Are men and Women equal? The answer is no

Praise be to Allah,This article is mainly to answer the islamophobes who say that islam lays many restrictions on women in comparison to men, This Article will deal in these issues

  1. The things which men can do and women can not do
  2. The things which women can do and men can not do
  3. Fatwas
  4. Males and Females are equal as per rewards are concern
  5. Conclusion

a) The things which men can do and women cannot

  • Point no: 1 (Men are protectors of women as a whole)

Allaah says
Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means[al-Nisa 4:34]

  • Point no: 2 (Awrah)

A womans awrah includes her entire body. The least that can be said is that she should not uncover anything except her face and hands

Allaah says:
O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be knownso as not to be annoyed. And Allaah is Ever Oft?Forgiving, Most Merciful[al-Ahzaab 33:59]
.

  • Shaykh Muhammad Salih Al Munajjid said in Islam QA fatwa no: 1105

The Quraan commands women to wear clothes that are different from those worn by men, because of the differences in the ways each sex is tempted by the other. The temptation posed by men is less than the temptation posed by women, so the clothes that women should wear are different than the clothes that men wear. It makes no sense to tell women to expose the parts of the body that men are allowed to expose, because of the differences in the temptation posed by a womans body and a mans body (end quote)

  • Point no: 3 (Obligatory prayers)

Prayer in the mosque is obligatory for men, but not for women; a womans prayer in her house but she can pray in Masjid as well

  • Point no: 4 (Jihad)

Jihad is not obligatory for women. Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
In order for jihad to be obligatory there are seven conditions: being Muslim, being an adult, being of sound mind, being free, being male, being physically sound and being able to afford it financially. With regard to being Muslim, adult and of sound mind, these are essential conditions for all Islamic duties, because a kaafir is not to be trusted in jihad, an insane person cannot go for jihad and a child is physically weak. Ibn Umar said: I presented myself to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on the day of Uhud when I was fourteen years old, and he did not let me join the fighting. Agreed upon. With regard to being male, this is stipulated because of the report narrated from Aaishah who said: O Messenger of Allaah, do women have to engage in jihad? He said: Jihad in which there is no fighting: Hajj and Umrah. And because women are not able to fight because they are (physically) weak.[From al-Mughni, 9/163]

  • Point no: 5 (Testimony)

Testimony or bearing witness. The Quraan states that the testimony of one man is equivalent to the testimony of two women.Allaah says And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her [al-Baqarah 2:282]

  • The fatwa says

With regard to the testimony of two women being equivalent to the testimony of one man in some cases, that is because women tend to be more forgetful than men because of their natural cycles of menstruation, pregnancy, giving birth, raising children etc. All these things preoccupy them and make them forgetful. Hence the shari evidence indicates that another women should reinforce a womans testimony, so that it will be more accurate. But there are matters that pertain only to women in which the testimony of a single woman is sufficient, such as determining how often a child was breastfed, faults that may affect marriage, and so on. [Al-Lajnah al-Daaimah lil-Buhooth al-Ilmiyyah wal-Ifta, 17/7.]

b) Things which women can do and men can not
  • Point no: 1 (Silk and Gold)

a)  Abu Dawood (3535) narrated that Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took a piece of silk in his right hand and  a piece of gold in his left and said, These two are forbidden for the males of my ummah. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3422.
b)
These are haraam for the males of my ummah and permitted for the females. (Reported by Ibn Maajah, 2/1189).

  • Point no: 2 (Rights of Mother)

A Mother has 3 times more right over her children then the father
Proof: Saheeh Muslim Book 032, Number 6180:.Abu Huraira reported that a person came to Allah, ‘s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said: Who among the people is most deserving of a fine treatment from my hand? He said: Your mother. He again said: Then who (is the next one)? He said: Again it is your mother (who deserves the best treatment from you). He said: Then who (is the next one)? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Again, it is your mother. He (again) said: Then who? Thereupon he said: Then it is your father

  • Point no: 3 (Mahr)

Man gives the dower to his wife even if it is mountain of Gold.
Proof: Surah 4:4 (And give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift)

  • Point no: 4 (Monthly periods of women)
Women are commanded in their monthly periods to leave prayers.
Mu’adhah said: “I asked Aishah: Why must we make up the fasts missed due to our menstruation, but not the prayers [ missed through menstruation] ?” She said, “That was what the Messenger of Allah told us to do. We were ordered to make up the fasts, and we were ordered not to make up the prayers.” [ Fiqh as-Sunnah 1.71a ]

and  a women  will be rewarded for not praying during their periods.

Allah says [016:097] Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter).
.
And following command (that do not pray in periods) of Allah and his Prophet peace be upon him is righteousness and in result of Righteousness she will surely be rewarded.

  • Shaykh Salman al Odha said:

These are matters of Islamic Law. A woman is neither sinful nor blameworthy because of the prayers and fasts that she misses. She, in fact, receives blessings by obeying Allah and abstaining from those acts while she is menstruating. Her testimony as a witness is half that of men only in matters wherein she is generally less versed than men. In other matters wherein women have particular knowledge, like fosterage and virginity, the testimony of a woman is accepted but not that of a man.
Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) attested to the perfect character of four women: Mary, siyah the wife of Pharaoh, Ftimah, and Khadjah. He definitely did not mean that these women did not go through menstruation. He was referring to their good character, strength of intellect, and soundness of opinion (end)

  • It is mentioned in Sharah al Muslim An-Nawawi 4/26 : .

This ruling i.e., that prayers should not be made up) is agreed upon by all the Muslims, that menstruating women and women who bleed following childbirth do not have to pray or fast at the times when prayers or fasts are due; they are unanimously agreed that they do not have to make up the prayers, and they are unanimously agreed that they do have to make up the fasts. The scholars said, the difference between them is that the prayers are many and are repeated, so it would be difficult to make them up, unlike the fasts.(end)

Comment: So Islam provided easiness for women in her periods, And on the other hand Male has to pray in Masjid and if he leaves the prayer this is one of the biggest sin, lastly Allaah says And the male is not like the female[Aal Imraan 3:36]

  • .Point no: 6(Martyr when a woman die during child birth)

Shaykh Muhammad Salih al Munajjid said in IslamQA Fatwa no: 8800

If a woman dies with a child in her womb, or she dies during childbirth or after childbirth but within the period of nifaas (post-partum bleeding), she is considered to be a shaheedah in sha Allaah.
a) Raashid ibn Hubaysh narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered upon ‘Ubaadah ibn al-Saamit when he was sick and said, “Do you know who is a shaheed (martyr) in my ummah?” The people remained silent, then ‘Ubaadah said, “Help me to sit up.” They helped him to sit up, then he said, “O Messenger of Allaah, (is it) the patient one who seeks reward from Allaah for his patience?” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Then the martyrs among my ummah would be very few. Being killed for the sake of Allaah is martyrdom, the plague is martyrdom, drowning is martyrdom, stomach disease is martyrdom, and if a woman dies during the post-partum period, her child will drag her to Paradise by his umbilical cord.” The umbilical cord is that which is cut by the midwife when the child is born. [The hadeeth was narrated by Imaam Ahmad in his Musnad with a saheeh isnaad. (al-Musnad, 3/489. There is a corroborating report narrated by Maalik (1/233) and Abu Dawood, 3/482)].

b) ‘Ubaadah ibn al-Saamit also narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Who is counted as a shaheed among you?” They said, “The one who fights and is killed for the sake of Allaah.” The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Then the shaheeds among my ummah would be few. The one who is killed for the sake of Allaah is a shaheed; the one who dies of plague is a shaheed; the one who dies of a stomach disease is a shaheed; the woman who dies with a child in her womb is a shaheed.” [This was narrated by Imaam Ahmad, 5/315, and by Ibn Maajah, and by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh, who said its isnaad is saheeh. A report with a similar meaning was narrated by Muslim, as referred to above.](end)

And there are many other points where a Man is different from women and women are different from men, so how can we say they are equal?

c)Fatwas

.

  • 1) Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Here we should note that there are some people who speak of equality instead of justice, and this is a mistake. We should not say equality, because equality implies no differentiation between the two. Because of this unjust call for equality, they started to ask, what is the difference between male and female? So they made males and females the same, and then the communists said, What difference is there between ruler and subject? No one has any authority over anyone else, not even fathers and sons; the father has no authority over his son, and so on.

But if we say justice, which means giving each one that to which he or she is entitled, this misunderstanding no longer applies, and the word used is correct. Hence it does not say in the Quraan that Allaah enjoins equality, rather it says .
Verily, Allaah enjoins Al Adl (i.e. justice) [al-Nahl 16:90]

and that when you judge between men, you judge with justice [al-Nisa 4:58]

Those who say that Islam is the religion of equality are lying against Islam. Rather Islam is the religion of justice which means treating equally those who are equal and differentiating between those who are different. No one who knows the religion of Islam would say that it is the religion of equality. Rather what shows you that this principle is false is the fact that most of what is mentioned in the Quraan denies equality, as in the following verses:

Say: Are those who know equal to those who know not?[al-Zumar 39:9]
Say: Is the blind equal to the one who sees? Or darkness equal to light? [al-Rad 13:16]
Not equal among you are those who spent and fought before the conquering (of Makkah, with those among you who did so later [al-Hadeed 57:10]

Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allaah with their wealth and their live [al-Nisa 4:95]
.
Not one single letter in the Quraan enjoins equality, rather it enjoins justice. You will also find that the word justice is acceptable to people, for I feel that if I am better than this man in terms of knowledge, or wealth, or piety, or in doing good, I would not like for him to be equal to me.  Every man knows that he find it unacceptable if we say that the male is equal to the female. [Sharh al-Aqeedah al-Waasitah, 1/180-181]

d) Males and Females are equal as per rewards are concern.

[004:124]  And whoever does righteous good deeds, male or female, and is a true believer in the Oneness of Allah (Muslim), such will enter Paradise and not the least injustice, even to the size of a Naqeera (speck on the back of a datestone), will be done to them.

[016:097]  Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.

[040:040]  “He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed – whether man or woman – and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure.

[003:195]  So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another,

Ibne Kathir Commented: (You are (members) one of another) means, you are all equal in relation to gaining My reward.(end)
.
Note:Allah says in Al Hujaraat ayah 13. “O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most honorable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”

Hadith says “Muslim recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said,”Verily, Allah does not look at your shapes or wealth, but he looks at your hearts and actions.”

Comment:So whoever Male or female, if he or she has more righteous deeds/actions then he or she is more honorable then others in the sight of Allah.

e) Conclusion

So men and women both have their field of specialization. Men should not interfere in pregnancy, breastfeeding, wearing gold and silk and other things, and women should not be involved in fighting the enemy and other things and they are equal in gaining reward, Whatever is permitted to both of them should be done within the guidelines of Islamic law.

Stoning to death

Praise be to Allaah, I am making this article so that it will clear the misconceptions regarding Stoning to death, Let us see the hadith

The Hadeeth

a). Sahih Bukhari

Bukhari Volume 7, Book 63, Number 195:
Narrated Jabir:

A man from the tribe of Bani Aslam(Maaiz) came to the Prophet while he was in the mosque and said, “I have committed illegal sexual intercourse.” The Prophet turned his face to the other side. The man turned towards the side towards which the Prophet had turned his face, and gave four witnesses against himself. On that the Prophet called him and said, “Are you insane?” (He added), “Are you married?” The man said, ‘Yes.” On that the Prophet ordered him to be stoned to the death in the Musalla (a praying place). When the stones hit him with their sharp edges and he fled, but he was caught at Al-Harra and then killed

b) Sahih Muslim

In Saheeh Muslim
Sahaba says “We took him(Maa`iz) to the Baqi’ al-Gharqad (the graveyard of Medina). We neither tied him nor dug any ditch for him.” [Sahih Muslim Book #017, Hadith #4202]

c). Abu Dawud

Another Hadith says “They then went to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and reported it(His running while stoning) to him. He said: Why did you not leave him alone. Perhaps he might have repented and been forgiven by Allah.(Abu Dawud Book #38, Hadith #4405 Authenticated by Shaykh AlBani in “Erwa al Ghulail hadith no: 2322 Vol 7 page 358”).

Commentaries.

  • a) Imam An Nawawi said
Imam Ash Shafiee and Ahmad and Others says that If he is agreeing that he did zina(after marriage) and if he is running while stoning, immediately he should be left alone..., Malik says in one of the narration that he should not be left alone and should be killed, Imam Ash Shafiee made the evidence from the narration of Sunan Abu Dawood where Prophet peace be uponhim said “Why did you not leave him alone until Allah look into him  “ and the narrations “”Why did you not leave him alone. Perhaps he might have repented and been forgiven by Allah”[Sharah an Nawawy, Book of Hudood Chapter on HE WHO CONFESSES HIS GUILT OF ADULTERY]

  • b) Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said:

It may be understood from this case the case of Maaiz when he confessed to having committed zina that it is mustahabb for the one who falls into a similar sin to repent to Allaah and conceal his sin and not mention it to anyone, as Abu Bakr and Umar said to Maaiz. Whoever discovers anything of that nature should conceal it according to what we have mentioned; he should not expose it or refer the matter to the ruler, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said in this story: If you had concealed it with your garment it would have been better for you. Hence al-Shaafai (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: If a person commits a sin and Allaah conceals it for him, I prefer for him to conceal it too and to repent, and he quoted as evidence the story of Maaiz with Abu Bakr and Umar.[Fath al-Baari, 12/124, 125]

  •  c) Shaykh Muhammad Dawud Raz mentioned
Another hadith says when Prophet peace be upon him heard that he ran away, he(peace be upon him) said “Why did you not leave him alone. Perhaps he might have repented and been forgiven by Allah”. This is the saying of Imam Shafiee and Ahlul hadeeth that If he is agreeing that he did zina(after marriage) and if he is running while stoning, immediately he should be left alone (end)[Commentary of Sahih Bukhari by Muhammad Dawud Raz checked by Shaykh Abds Salam Bastawi and Shaykh Abdul Jabbar Salafi Vol 7 page 51]
.

Fatwas

  • a) Islam qa fatwa no: 47924 says

The expiation for committing zina with a married woman or any other is sincere repentance that fulfils all the conditions of repentance. That involves giving up the sin completely, regretting what one has done and resolving never to go back to it. Whoever does that has repented to Allaah, and whoever repents, Allaah will accept his repentance and turn his bad deeds into good deeds, as Allaah says:

Know they not that Allaah accepts repentance from His slaves and takes the Sadaqaat (alms, charity), and that Allaah Alone is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful?[al-Tawbah 9:104]

Allah says
68. And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allaah, nor kill such person as Allaah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment.
69. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;
70. Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allaah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allaah is Oft?Forgiving, Most Merciful[al-Furqaan 25:68-70]

Al-Bukhaari (4436) and Muslim (174) narrated from Ibn Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that some people from among the mushrikeen who had killed and killed a great deal, and committed zina and done it a great deal came to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: What you are saying and calling us to is good, if only you could tell us that there is any expiation for what we have done. Then the words And those who invoke not any other ilaah (god) along with Allaah, nor kill such person as Allaah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse [al-Furqaan 25:68] and Say: O Ibaadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah [al-Zumar 39:52] were revealed. (end)

Whoever falls into zina must hasten to repent to Allaah and conceal himself with His concealment, and not disclose what he has done, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

Avoid this filthy thing that Allaah has forbidden, and whoever commits any sin of that nature let him conceal himself with the concealment of Allaah. Narrated by al-Bayhaqi and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-al-Saheehah, 663

Muslim (2590) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Allaah does not cover any slave in this world but Allaah will also cover him on the Day of Resurrection. (end quote from fatwa of Islam qa)

.
Question
May the peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be upon you.

I wrote to you before and told you my story…I am a married woman who fell into a great sin, meaning the sin of adultery. I don’t know if the reasons behind it are enough to make up for what I did, but I don’t want to find an excuse for myself and let myself off the hook. My husband travelled abroad and left me with three children, the oldest of which is nine years old. He [their father] is now in America.

I begged him to let us stay together, but he refused and forced the situation on me. He has never, since I first met him, given my opinion any consideration. He used to treat me like I was too insignificant to make any decision. From that point on, he always made me feel hopeless, even though I served him like a slave in everything. I searched for what I wanted from him in someone else. I went back to an old relationship, and I found in it the worldly warmth and compassion of lost love and the loving home I did not find anywhere else. I got physical with him, we reached this devastating point, and now I am in despair. I feel so far from Allah’s Mercy. Could Allah ever accept my repentance? And do I have to receive the hadd punishment (stoning) for my repentance to be accepted? What about my husband? Can I keep this secret from him for the rest of my life? Can I continue my life with him as though nothing ever happened? Please, I would like convincing replies to my questions. Note that my husband has not come back yet and he insists that we not go with him, even though he would be capable of that because we’ve already gotten green cards to travel to America. I’ve thought a lot about traveling without his permission, which would be much less worse than continuing with this insanity. My faith is weak, and I feel that my inability to leave this boyfriend is the price for what I have done.

Fatwa
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful,

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessing be upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his household, his companions and those who have followed him. To proceed:

We have mentioned before that zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) is a heinous crime, and it is even more destructive and evil when committed by a married woman. Zina does not co-exist with faith, for the adulterer is not a believer at the time of committing adultery [as per the hadith]. Indeed, the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saw the punishment of those who commit zina in the Hereafter. He found them gathered naked in an oven, the top of which is narrow and the bottom of which is wide. So, the matter is extremely serious. While the circumstances you mention may explain what happened, they do not justify it in any way, shape or form. There is no way out of this trial, except through repentancetrue, immediate, sincere repentanceand one of the requirements of true, complete repentance is that you leave the land where the sin was committed. Staying in this place entices you to this obscene act and tempts you to keep doing it, and that is suicide itself!

I think you should continue to plead with your husband to send for you to live near him, but do not tell him anything that happened. Keep this devastating scandal a secret, for the rule concerning anyone suffering with any of these dirty secrets is to conceal it with the cover Allah has provided, for the people will disgrace you, but they will not change you, while Allah will change you and not disgrace you. If Allah opens his heart to this, start a new, clean life with him, and be frequent in doing good deeds and acts of worship when you are alone. Wash away the traces of these mistakes with the tears of repentance, but do not lose hope in Allah’s Mercy in the end, for Allah accepts repentance from His slaves and pardons all sins.

My sin loomed large, but when I compared it
To Your forgiveness, my Lord, Your forgiveness was still greater.

And Allah Almighty is the Most High, and He knows best. (Source of Fatwa: http://www.amjaonline.com/en_f_details.php?fid=78487 )
.

  • c) Shaykh Muhammad Salih al Munajjid said

1) Do not despair, for Allaah the Most Exalted and Glorified said (interpretation of the meaning): “Say: Oh my servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the mercy of Allaah, for Allaah forgives all sins; for He is oft-forgiving, most merciful.” [Surah 39,Verse 53]

2) Let your repentance be truly from your heart, and stay away from all sources of temptations. Also, perform many good deeds, as good deeds abrogate the bad ones.

3) If you repent to Allah, you are no longer described as a fornicator (zaani). Therefore, you can marry a chaste woman.

4) The believer has high hope and aspiration for the best from Allaah. He not only asks Allah for making his punishment easy in hellfire, but he also prays to God the Almighty to save him from Hell and award him with paradise for his repentance and good deeds.[Islam QA Fatwa no: 624]
  • d)Repentance
Hadith says: Anas [May Allah be pleased with him narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Allah says: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you and I would not mind. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it. (classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 4338)

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

It was said to al-Hasan al-Basri: One of us feels too shy before his Lord to ask forgiveness for his sin then go back to it, then ask forgiveness then go back (to his sin)? He said: The shaytaan wishes that he could achieve that with you. Do not tire of seeking forgiveness.

And it was narrated that he said: I think that this is the attitude of the believers i.e., every time a believer sins, he repents.[Jaami al-Uloom wal-Hukam (1/165).]

Conclusion

1. First thing to note is that No one should do zina it is one of the biggest sin.
2. If he did he should not tell anyone and he should repent Insha`Allah Allah will forgive him.
3. If he agrees in front of Judge that he did zina after marriage then
the hud Punishment (Stoning to death) should be imposed on him because husband betraying wife or wife betraying husband is the most grave sin after shirk and killing a soul.and if he fled he should be left alone maybe he is going to repent and Allah will forgive him.

Sam Shamoun in his article on alleged variants in the Quran has raised the issue of Ubayys so-called different reading of Quran 33:6.

In Quran we read the verse as;

The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers … (33:6)

Yet there are some reports that Ubay bin Kab (RA), a companion of the Prophet (PBUH), used to recite the verse as;

“The prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them, and his wives are their mothers.”

Clearly the underlined words are an addition to the established reading.

The Truth:

In an earlier post (can be seen here http://www.systemoflife.com/answering-islamophobes/answering-islam-website/254-rare-recitals-of-the-quran-a-the-lies-of-orientalists) discussing the reality of rare recitals of the Quran we learnt that;

Sometimes it happened that certain recitals were abrogated in the last days of the Prophets life but some Companion who had already memorized it remained unaware of this act, hence he continued to recite it as he had learnt. Because the other Companions knew that this had been abrogated they did not recite it not did they consider it to be correct recital anymore.

We have evidence that same happened in the case under consideration.

1- The additional words were abrogated:

?? ??? ???? ??????? ?? ????? ???: ??? ????? ??? ????? ?????????? ??????? ???????????????? ???? ???????????? ????????????? ?????????????? ???: ??? ?????: ??? ?????? ??? ???? ???? ????: “??? ????? ????? ??????? ???? ????????” ??? ?????: ??? ??????? ??????: ?????? ??????????? ???? ??????????? ?????? ??? ??????.

Abu Musa reported that Hassan (RA) recited this verse as; The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. He reported that Hassan quoted the Prophet (PBUH) to have said, I am closer to every believer than his own self. Hassan said; in the initial recital [the verse was], closer to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them. (Tafsir Ibn Jarir Al-Tabari 20/209)

?? ????? ??? ???? ??? ??? : ??? ?? ????? ????? ????? ???? ????????? ?? ?????? ??? ?? ???

It is reported from Ikrama that he said, In the earlier recital [it was]; The prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them. (Durr Manthur 8/127 Cf. Ibn Abi Hatim)

There two reports are adequate evidence that it was well known to early Muslims that the additional words have been abrogated and they were remembered only as such and no more as part of the actual text.

2- Other companions knew the lapse on the part of Ubayy:

Further we do have solid references to prove that other companions got that Ubayy (RA) just had a lapse of mind on this issue.

?? ????? ??????? ? ??? : ??? ??? ?? ?????? ????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ??? : ????? ???? ????????? ?? ?????? ??? ?? ??? ??????? ??????? ? ???? : ?????? ?? ???? ? ???? : ????? ?? ????? ? ??? ?? ???? ??? ?? ??? ?????? ??? ??? ??? ?? ??? ? ???? : ????? ?????? ? ????? ????? ????????

It is reported from Bajala Al-Tamimi: Umar found a Mushaf (manuscript) with a boy wherein it was written, the prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them, and his wives are their mothers. He said, Erase it O boy! The boy replied, By Allah I will not erase it and it is so in theMushaf of Ubayy bin Kab. So Umar went to Ubayy bin Kab. [According to one narration he raised his voice unto him] Ubayy replied; [Occupation with] Quran causes me the lapse as you are caused a lapse by the noise in the markets … (Ibn Hajrs Matalib Al-Aaliya Hadith 3777. Ibn Hajr classified it as Sahih)

Same narration is found in Tafsir Abdul Razzaq Al-Sanai 5/275 Hadith 2238 and Kanzul Ummal 2/569 Hadith 4746.

This is also supported by the following narration in Sahih Bukhari;

???? ????? ???????? ????? ????? ?????? ?????? ??????? ?????? ??????????? ??????? ???????????? ??????? ???????? ???????? ???? ?????? ??????? ??????? ????? ???????? ??????? ??? ?????? ??????? ?????????? ???? ??????? ??????? ?????? ??????? ???????? ????????? ?????? ????? ??????? ???????? ??? ???????? ???? ????? ???? ?????????

Narrated Ibn Abbas: Umar said, “Our best Qur’an reciter is Ubayy and our best judge is ‘Ali; and in spite of this, we leave some of the statements of Ubayy because Ubayy says, ‘I do not leave anything that I have heard from Allah’s Messenger while Allah said: Whatever verse (Revelations) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten … (2.106) (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 4121)

Thus proved that Ubayy (RA) was known for his lapses in forgetting that some revelations were abrogated and the same happened in case of the additional words in Quran 33:6.

3- Ubayy agreed to the established reading:

Similarly there is clear proof that Ubai (RA) agreed to the established reading without these words. The evidence is twofold;

a- On Umars (RA) inquiry Ubayy (RA) agreed that it was a lapse, albeit due to his being much occupied with remembering Quran, but lapse still.

b- We know that Ubayy (RA) was part of the twelve member committee appointed to oversee the standardization of the Quranic recitals, doing away with personal errors. See Ibn Abi Dawuds Al-Masahif Hadith 72

Had he any different opinion and evidence for it he must have argued and got the words into the standard text. While we do not find them in the manuscripts standardized under him we must conclude he was by then at par with other companions on this issue. Indeed the incident of Umar (RA) coming to him took place much before this.

4- Can these words be referred to as ‘Variants’?

Having known all the above facts, can we call these words as variants? Not really! Because the Author himself asked for the words to be dropped and as soon as people came to knew about these words being abrogated they gave them up. ‘Umar (RA) and other companions learnt about their being abrogated earlier so they stopped reciting them, Ubay (RA) learnt it somewhat later and then agreed to what was established. Hence there is no confusion and all the hue and cry of orientalists is just absurdity at its best!

LET ME TURN THE TABLES!

One can observe that there could be no reason for Muslims to reject or insist on the inclusion of these words in the Qur’an for these words had absolutely no significance as far as essentials of Islamic belief system are concerned.

On the contrary we have some interesting examples of variants from the Bible with great significance regarding the controversies among early Christians.

An example is Luke 3: 22:

In the widely current version it reads;

“And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

While we know that there is another reading of the same in which italicized words are replaced with;

“Today I have begotten thee.”

See footnote to Luke 3: 22 The Oxford Annotated Bible R.S.V. 1952 pub. Oxford University Press, New York 1962.

The editors clearly write before giving this reading; ‘Other ancient authorities read …’

This uncommon reading is supported by the words of St. Paul as recorded in Hebrews 1: 5and 5: 5.

Now the significance of this variant reading becomes evident when we read about a sect called Adoptionists who held that Jesus (PBUH) was adopted as a son by God at the eve of his Baptism. And this is precisely what Luke 3: 22, Hebrews 1: 5 and 5: 5 refer to.

It seems that the uncommon reading was purposefully suppressed to do away with an evidence of Adoptionist views from the Gospels at least!

So Christian fellows are requested to please carry out an analysis of their own scriptures before worrying about the Holy Qur’an -the Last and Final Testament of God for mankind!

INDEED ALLAH KNOWS THE BEST!

Allegation number 13: Wife Beating

Islamwatch says Wife Beating

The Quran: Sura (4:34) – “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.”

According to Islamic law, a husband may strike his wife for any one of the following four reasons:

– She does not attempt to make herself beautiful for him (i.e. “let’s herself go”)

– She refuses to meet his sexual demands

– She leaves the house without his permission or a “legitimate reason”

– She neglects her religious duties

Any of these are also sufficient grounds for divorce.

Questions and Answers about Quranic verse 4:34 by brother Kevin Abdullah:
Now see the verse
[004:034] Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husbands absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husbands property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see illconduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.
If a husband wants to see his wife dressed up well, is this wrong? And the author needs to take rest , he doesnt even know that ISLAM ,when protecting and supporting women and treating them as precious , cant allows men to treat them bad FOR LEGITIMATE REASONS.
This verse the author quoted, says only about those women, if they dont accept what is right and if they do something illconduct. Most importantly see the links and specially video because it is already replied by our brothers.

The Prophet (saws) said: ‘The most perfect Muslim in the matter of faith is one who has excellent behavior; and the best among you are those who behave best towards their wives.’

Allah’s Messenger (saws) said, “The best of you is he who is best to his family, and I am the best among you to my family.”

Sahih Muslim Hadith 3469Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

Allah’s Messenger (saws) said: ‘a believing man should not hate a believing woman (his wife); if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3358Narrated by AbuBakr as-Siddiq

The Prophet (saws) said, “One who treats badly those under his authority will not enter Paradise.”

Islamwatch quoted
From the Hadith: Muslim (4:2127) – Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission. Aisha narrates, “He struck me on the chest which caused me pain.”

Response

Here is the complete hadith

MUSLIM Book 004, Number 2127: Muhammad b. Qais said (to the people): Should I not narrate to you (a hadith of the Holy Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He (Muhammad b. Qais) then reported that it was ‘A’isha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi’. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I also returned He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I, however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in the bed, he (the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O ‘A’isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal, Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come to you), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and I did not like to awaken you, fearing that you may be frightened. He (Gabriel) said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi’ (to those lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I pray for them (How should I beg forgiveness for them)? He said: Say, Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the Believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone ahead of us, and those who come later on, and we shall, God willing, join you.(end)

My Friend and Brother Dr Asif replied;

AS A DOCTOR I ANALYSED THIS HADITH, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN HOME OF AISHA R.A. & JANNATUL BAQI IS QUITE LONG.

NOW SEE THE BOLD PART OF HADITH IN BLUE,

AS AISHA R.A WAS AFRAID THAT PROPHET SAAS WILL COME TO KNOW SHE WAS FALLOWING HER, SO IN ORDER TO AVOID THIS SHE CAME RUNNING BACK TO HOME,

IT IS NATURAL PHYSIOLOGICAL PHENOMENON WHEN A PERSON RUNS FOR A DISTANCE MORE THAN 100 meters, BODY RESPONDS WITH HYPERVENTILATION.

PERSONS BREATHS FAST & EVEN HEART RATE INCREASES, BLOOD PRESSURE INCREASES,

DURING SUCH SITUATION IF YOU GIVE SLIGHT PUSH ON CHEST PERSON WILL FEEL PAIN.

YOU CAN DO THIS ON YOURSELF ALSO TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENS,

IN ABOVE HADITH PROPHET SAAS JUST GIVE A PUSH TO AISHA R.A & SHE FELT PAIN …..(end of his saying)

Moreover, author tried to fool others because of the evil in his mind, by quoting the hadith out of context. What made him do so? Didnt he know that his article will be read by muslims too?

Author needs to think about it.

Moreover

Aaishah (Radhiallahu ‘Anha) herself said: Allaah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) never hit anything with his hand ever, except when fighting in the path of Allaah. Nor did he ever hit a servant or a woman.” [Recorded by Musnad Ishaq bin Rawahiya no: 698, Ibn Maajah Kitab al Nikah hadeeth no: 1984 Al-Albaanee said it is Saheeh.]

  • Lastly see beautiful Explanation by brother Kevin Abdullah here:

http://www.quransearch.com/karim/mistranslations_of_hadiths.htm

He made many points in his article among them one is, the term used in the hadith is: Lahada.

Imam Nawawi in his Sharh states that: The word “lahada” according to the lexicographers means, “to push” (dafa’a).(End quote for details see his full article)

So it is clear Prophet Peace be upon him never beat his wives nor any other person.

Islamwatch says
Bukhari (7:72:715) – A woman came to Muhammad and begged him to stop her husband from beating her. Her skin was bruised so badly that she it is described as being “greener” than the green veil she was wearing. Muhammad did not admonish her husband, but instead ordered her to return to him and submit to his sexual desires.

Response

This hadith has been replied in this same article see again or see in the link under the heading Answering false claim nr.4

Author once again put half (the only part of hadith which he liked) hadith. Not only the author misquoted the hadith but due to his hatred towards islam he himself CARED to type the hadith, like he did previously. But people who read the article, are not fool, they can see which part is a copy paste and which part is typed.

Author needs to be careful if he has planned to, again, write something anti-Islamic.

Islamwatch quoted
Abu Dawud (2141) – “Iyas bin Abd Allah bin Abi Dhubab reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not beat Allahs handmaidens, but when Umar came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them. Then many women came round the family of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) complaining against their husbands. So the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Many women have gone round Muhammads family complaining against their husbands. They are not the best among you.” At first, Muhammad forbade men from beating their wives, but he rescinded this once it was reported that women were becoming emboldened toward their husbands. Beatings are sometimes necessary to keep women in their place.

Response

Above hadith is criticised by Imam Bukhari and Imam Al Baghwi because Iyas bin Abd Allah is not sahabi according to them as it is mentioned in Awn al Mabood under this hadith

??? ??????? : ?????? ??????? ???? ???? . ???? ??? ?????? ?????? : ?? ???? ??? ???? ?? ??? ???? ??? ??? ?????? .

(Imam) Munzari said it is mentioned by Nisai and Ibne Majah and (Imam) Abu al Qasim Baghwi said i don’t know Iyas bin Abdullah Narrated any other hadith then this and (Imam) Bukhari mentioned this hadeeth in his Tareekh and said It is not known that Iyas was in company (of Prophet peace be upon him), and Ibne Abi Hatim said Iyas bin Abdullah bin Abi Dhubab Ad Dosi Madni was in the company (of Prophet) i heard my father and Abu Zur`ah both said same.(end)

Even if we consider it authentic then Brother Karim replied to Silas a christian missionary

The above statement is such a big and cheap lie, the prophet was clearly condemning those husbands and not the women!

(For the proof, see: Riyad as Saliheen chapter 34, nr 279 .

Prophet (peace be upon him) told the believers that those husbands are not the best among you. Prophet (peace be upon him) also revoked the dispensation. Further this hadith proves that wife beating was not permitted at all, since Umar came to ask for permission of the prophet (peace be upon him), if hitting ones wife was normal and allowed in any case or in many cases, umar wouldnt asked the prophet (peace be upon him) permission for it, therefore:

The man has no right to beat his wife as per the explicit prohibition of the Prophet (peace be upon him)

The basic rule (asl) is strict prohibition, followed by dispensation (rukhsa) as explicated by the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the hadith where Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Do not hit the maidservants of Allah ! ” ( la tadribu ima’ Allah ). Then Umar came to the Prophet and said ( by way of exaggeration , cf. Awn al-Ma `bud ) : The wome are rebelling ( dha’irna ) against their husbands ! So the prophet gave a dispensation ( rakhkhasa ) to beat them. Whereupon women started pouring to see the family of the messenger of Allah and complain about their husbands. Seeing this, the prophet said: Many women have poured in to see the family of Muhammad, complaining of their husbands, and the latter are certainly not the best of you

(Narrated from Iyas ibn `Abd Allah ibn Abi Dhubab by al-Shafi`i in his Musnad, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, al-Tabarani in al-Kabir, and al-Hakim. Al-Nawawi and al-Suyuti graded it a sound (sahih) narration in Riyad al-Salihin and al-Jami` al-Saghir respectively).

Another authentic version in Sahih Ibn Hibban (9:491) adds that the Prophet then revoked the dispensation. His statement that the best of you are the best in their behavior towards their wives, and I am the best of you in my behavior towards my wives shows that

  • wife-beaters are the worst men and

  • No Muslim wife-beater can possibly claim to imitate the Prophet , although Allah Most High said to imitate him : {Verily in the messenger of Allah ye have a good example for him who looketh unto Allah and the last Day, and remembereth Allah much} (33:21).

Islamwatch quoted

Abu Dawud (2142) – “The Prophet said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife.”

Allah despises women, both Muslim and infidel, with such a deep hatred and loathing that one would wonder why he even bothered to create women. He could just create bisexual men with reproductive organs.

Response

Explanation of above hadith: Hadith is not authentic Because of Abdul Rahman al Muslee is in the chain & no one said he is trustworthy

Sayings of scholars regarding this hadith:

  • Ibne Hajar Asqalani weakened him in Tahdheeb at Tahdheeb 6/304

  • Imam Ibn al Qattan said this is not authentic in “Byan al Waham al abhaam (5/524

  • Imam adh Dahabee said :In it Abdul Rahman aslamee is not known” Meezan al Aitedaal (2/602

  • Shaykh Ahmad shakir said in tehqeeq of Musnad Ahmad 1/77 Chian is weak

  • Shaykh Shoaib al Aranoot weakened this hadith in his tahqeeq of Musnad Ahmad

  • Shaykh Al Bani Weakened in “Irwa al Ghulail 7/98

See detailed reply in http://www.islamqa.com/ar/ref/146600

Authentic Ahadith which clears the anti-islamic claim:

Muawiyah al Qarshi said I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them. (Abu Dawud Book 11, Number 2139

and this hadith

Verily I declare the gravity of the rights of the two weak persons: the orphan and the woman.

[Mustadrak al Haakim #211]

and

Do not force the daughters and girls for they are precious and delightful companions. [Musnad Ahmad #17411 and verified]

Authors remarks on the weak hadith he quoted, compelled me to say that, in fact , he is the one who think women are only to meet desires of men. He couldnt think beyond the sex-related remarks. Throughout this article, author only tried to prove one thing nd that is women are sex-objects, this only presents his mentality towards women. Author himself presents the value of women he observed and learnt in his society and religion.

ISLAM is the only religion which protects, respects, and honors women. And no one , if follows islam , can even think about harming women in any possible way.

I am grateful to ALLAH that HE gave me a chance to refute this full of lies, article and to present the true and actual status of women in islam, which muslim women enjoy.

MAY ALLAH guide us all to the right path Amin.

Allegation number 12: Wives as slaves

Islamwatch quoted Wives as slaves

Sura (66:5) – “Maybe, his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your place wives better than you, submissive, faithful, obedient, penitent, adorers, fasters, widows and virgins”

(Disobedient wife can be replaced. A man can only have up to four wives, but he can rotate as many women as he pleases in and out of the lineup.)

Response

The commentary that the author has made on the verse is really funny! I have already quoted evidences that if the husband is not good and the wife doesnt like him she can leave him.Now , if a wife can leave a husband she doesnt like, what is the problem when a husband wants to leave the wife he doesnt like? The rule is the same in both cases. So if a man wants an obedient wife, how is he wrong? Or from where does it prove that he is simply replacing wives? A Wife should listen to her husband and same goes to the husband. This increases love and affection between them.

Now if the author has a problem with this affection and love, in the relation, he can make his point without quoting verses from the Quraan!

Previously, the author was saying that islam permits wife swapping and now the same author, foolishly makes his own point NULL because now he presented another verse and he now makes it replacement.

Should this person be believed any way?

The answer to this question is left to the readers.

Women’s rights over her husband

  • Financial Rights

It was narrated that Aaishah said: Hind bint Utbah, the wife of Abu Sufyaan, entered upon the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, O Messenger of Allaah, Abu Sufyaan is a stingy man who does not spend enough on me and my children, except for what I take from his wealth without his knowledge. Is there any sin on me for doing that? The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, Take from his wealth on a reasonable basis, only what is sufficient for you and your children. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5049; Muslim, 1714)

  • Kind treatment

“…But consort with them in kindness, for if you hate them it may happen that you hate a thing wherein God has placed much good.” [Qur’an 4: l9]

And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable [al-Baqarah 2:228]

Prophet Muhammad. (PBUH) said: “The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best among you to my family.”

”The most perfect believers are the best in conduct and best of you are those who are best to their wives.” (Musnad Ahmad, No. 7396)

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Be kind to women.(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3153; Muslim, 1468).

It was narrated that Urwah ibn al-Zubayr said: Aaishah said: By Allaah, I saw the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) standing at the door of my apartment when the Abyssinians were playing with their spears in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He covered me with his cloak so that I could watch their games, then he stood there for my sake until I was the one who had had enough. So you should appreciate the fact that young girls like to have fun. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 443; Muslim, 892)

  • Not harming ones wife.

It was narrated from Ubaadah ibn al-Saamit that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ruled, There should be no harming nor reciprocating harm. (Narrated by Ibn Maajah,, 2340)

This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Imaam Ahmad, al-Haakim, Ibn al-Salaah and others. See Khalaasat al-Badr al-Muneer, 2/438. (exctrated from ISLAM QA)

And so on and so forth, there are so many examples, so many traditions which make the rights of the wife over her husband very clear.

Islamwatch quoted

From the Hadith:Bukhari (62:2) Narrated ‘Ursa: that he asked ‘Aisha about the Statement of Allah: ‘If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (the captives) that your right hands possess. That will be nearer to prevent you from doing injustice.’ (4.3) ‘Aisha said, “O my nephew! (This Verse has been revealed in connection with) an orphan girl under the guardianship of her guardian who is attracted by her wealth and beauty and intends to marry her with a Mahr less than what other women of her standard deserve. So they (such guardians) have been forbidden to marry them unless they do justice to them and give them their full Mahr, and they are ordered to marry other women instead of them.”

Response

And author tries to prove from above hadith that wives are slaves! The above hadith clearly says regarding Orphans that, “they (such guardians) have been forbidden to marry them unless they do justice to them and give them their full Mahr. This is also a proof for the statement that if a man can’t be just, he should marry only one woman. It has not been stated anywhere that a muslim man must marry four women otherwise he won’t be considered a muslim!

The author, again, has failed to present his point of view logically, and his allegation melts once again.

Bukhari (5:268) – “The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number.” I asked Anas, “Had the Prophet the strength for it?” Anas replied, “We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty men.” Muhammad had special rules that allowed him at least eleven wives. (His successors had more than four wives at a time as well.)

Bukhari (62:6) – “The Prophet used to go round (have sexual relations with) all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives.”

Bukhari (77:598) – “Allah’s Apostle said, “No woman should ask for the divorce of her sister (Muslim) so as to take her place, but she should marry the man (without compelling him to divorce his other wife)”

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “No woman should ask for the divorce of her sister (Muslim) so as to take her place, but she should marry the man (without compelling him to divorce his other wife), for she will have nothing but what Allah has written for her.” Polygamy is firmly established in the Islamic tradition.

Response

He was Prophet ( peace be upon him) and what is the problem if a Man visits his wife during day time or night time?

See reply here (again polygamy is already answered in this article)

http://www.answering-christianity.com/polygamy.htm

and another good point is what Dr Zakir Naik said:

In Western society, it is common for a man to have mistresses and/or multiple extra-marital affairs, in which case, the woman leads a disgraceful, unprotected life. The same society, however, cannot accept a man having more than one wife, in which women retain their honorable, dignified position in society and lead a protected life.

In short

  • Allah warns us in Surah An Nisa ayah 3 if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then marry only one. And in ayah 129 Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women.

  • Prophet (Peace be upon him) warned us “Whoever has two wives and inclines to one of them (too much), will come on the Day of Resurrection with one of his sides dragging” means, both of his wives MUST receive equal rights from their husband, he should not spend extra time with one and so the other wife might feel deprived of her needs and rights.

  • Polygamy is not a rule but an exception.
  • If wives are happy then Anti-islamic people should not have a problem.

  • Islam Honours women but in western society, Man can have multiple Girlfriends but the same society cannot permit 2nd wife in which women retain their honourable, dignified position. This is only promoting fornication (zina) which is not only a sin but its also a social crime. Whats the harm in making up relationship which is legal! And also a man HAS TO ASK HIS FIRST wife before marrying the second time. This is what ISLAM has made obligatory. ISLAM cares for women more than the western, so-called, modern society.

  • The wisdom behind the marriages of Prophet (peace be upon him);

Why Did the Prophet Have So Many Wives? (this question is often put by our non-muslim friends and they make this question basis to prove that women were treated so bad even by the prophet (s.a.w.w) of muslims.)

Refutation Series XI: Baby Tilths

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barkatahu (May Peace, Blessings & Mercy of Allah Be Upon You)

Article by Sister Noor-ul-Huda & Brother Asim ul Haq

The Article is in reply to these series of allegations:

1) Refutation Series I: Muslim Women are Dirty Polluting Creatures
2) Refutation Series II:Women are inferior, slave to men
3) Refutation Series III: Muslim women are sex object for men enjoyment
4) Refutation Series IV: Muslim Men can Capture Infidel Women as Sex Slave

5) Refutation Series V: A Womans Testimony is Worth Only Half of a Mans
6) Refutation Series VI: Brutal Punishment For Women
7)Refutation Series VII: Fewer seats for women in Allah’s Paradise
8) Refutation Series VIII: The Tyranny of Men over Women

9) Refutation Series IX: Polygamy
10)Refutation Series X: Wife Swapping

Allegation number 11: Muslim women are sex object for men’s enjoyment

The allegation is that women are objects of enjoyment whereas this is what Islam is against and hence the hijab for women. The article below shows the freedom the women in islam enjoy to the extent that they can reject a proposal.

Answering Islam quoted

Baby Tilths

Sura (65.4) You can marry (and divorce) little girls who have not yet reached menstruation age. This is Allah teaching of pedophilia allowing Muslim men to rape young Muslim baby girls.

And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the ‘Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, and for those who have no courses [(i.e. they are still immature) their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death] . And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens), and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him.

Following is a famous fatwa by Ayatollah Khomeini that defines sura 65.4

“A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man’s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl’s sister.”

Response

In the verse the author mentioned, I tried to find the word RAPE or provision of RAPING muslim BABY GIRLS (as per the author’s perception), but I couldnt find anything of the sort.

Why are these people creating issues based on ASSUMPTIONS of their fickle minds like the one by the author: “This is Allah teaching of pedophilia allowing Muslim men to rape young Muslim baby girls.

To support his argument, he needs valid points and not mere assumptions of his own. The author, in his article, is unable to justify his allegations because he is a confused person who puts verses of the Quran which are actually praising women and are strictly ordering to protect and respect women.

Like the verse author mentioned has the ruling regarding the age of MARRIGE and what to do if the marriage is need to be ended in a legal way, of course.

[004:006] And try orphans (as regards their intelligence) until they reach the age of marriage; if then you find sound judgment in them, release their property to them, but consume it not wastefully, and hastily fearing that they should grow up, and whoever amongst guardians is rich, he should take no wages, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable (according to his work). And when you release their property to them, take witness in their presence; and Allah is All Sufficient in taking account.

One can marry when he or she reach the age of marriage and this is complete marriage but if someone marries before the age of puberty then this is not a complete marraige because the husband should not have intercourse with her and she doesn’t go and live with him, until she becomes mature for that, And after that when she is able to decide about her marraige she can even reject her husband if she doesn’t like him as we quoted these ahadeeth before:

  • If  a woman does not like her Husband she can leave him or if the marriage is against her will she can leave her husband.

Proof 1: Narrated Al-Qasim: A woman from the offspring of Ja’far was afraid lest her guardian marry her (to somebody) against her will. So she sent for two elderly men from the Ansar, ‘AbdurRahman and Mujammi’, the two sons of Jariya, and they said to her, “Don’t be afraid, for Khansa’ bint Khidam was given by her father in marriage against her will, then the Prophet cancelled that marriage.” (Bukhari Book #86, Hadith #99)

Proof 2: Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A virgin came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and mentioned that her father had married her against her will, so the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) allowed her to exercise her choice.  (Abu Dawud Book #11, Hadith #2091)

So she is not bound with her husband that she have to go with him after she reach the age of marriage, By the way Ayathullah Khomeni is not evidence.

9) Refutation Series IX: Polygamy

Allegation number 10: Wife Swapping

Islamwatch quoted Wife Swapping

Sura (4:20) And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money (however great), take nothing from it. Would ye take it by the way of calumny and open wrong?

(You can change your wives. Islamic wife-swapping requires saying “talaq” three times to one of the four wives, and replacing her with another wife.)

Response

  • Three talaq at once will be considered as one not three, see our Article;

Issue of 3 Talaq: http://systemoflife.com/articles/general/203-the-issue-of-triple-talaq

  • Context of the ayah

[004:019] O you who believe! You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness, that you may take away part of the Mahr you have given them, unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse. And live with them honourably. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allah brings through it a great deal of good.

[004:020] But if you intend to replace a wife by another and you have given one of them a Cantar (of gold i.e. a great amount) as Mahr, take not the least bit of it back; would you take it wrongfully without a right and (with) a manifest sin?by slander and manifest wrong?

Comment:So here Allah orders that “You are forbidden to inherit women against their will, and you should not treat them with harshness” then Allah says “unless they commit open illegal sexual intercourse.”and we ask question to the author of the article that if the wives of atheist or Christians commit open illegal sexual intercourse, what will they do to their wife? will they be able to live with her? If yes, then they are not in their senses if no then what is the problem in the ruling of Qur`an??, same is the ruling for women if husband commits open sexual intercourse with any other, she can leave him, let us see the commentary

Ibne Kathir Commented The Messenger of Allah said; ?????????? ?????????? ??????????? ??????? ?????????? ?????????

(The best among you is he who is the best with his family. Verily, I am the best one among you with my family.) It was the practice of the Messenger of Allah to be kind, cheerful, playful with his wives, compassionate, spending on them and laughing with them. The Messenger used to race with `A’ishah, the Mother of the Faithful, as a means of kindness to her. `A’ishah said, “The Messenger of Allah raced with me and I won the race. This occurred before I gained weight, and afterwards I raced with him again, and he won that race. He said,

????? ??????? (This ?victory ? is for that ?victory?.)”(end quote)

  • Dont know from where did the author guessed that ending relationship with a female means swapping, If a wife changes her husband due to some reason, does that mean this is husband swapping?
  • Only ISLAM is the religion which puts certain conditions if one wants to end his/her marriage, and fulfilling those conditions and requirements is necessary. Only ISLAM says that marriage is not a child play, that one day you get marry and the next day you repent and marry again by divorcing.

Although divorce being allowed in Islam is a sign of the lenience and practical nature of the Islamic legal system, the unity of the family is considered a priority for the sake of the children. For this reason, divorce is always a last choice, after exhausting all possible means of reconciliation. For example, Allah addresses men asking them to try hard to keep the marriage, even if they dislike their wives:

… live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and God brings about through it a great deal of good.(Surah 4 Verse 19)

And the following verse is addressed to women asking them the same thing: If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband’s part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; …(Surah 4 Verse 128)

Again, the following verse is addressed to the family/ the society for the same purpose of rescuing this bond, which God did not make easy to break: If ye fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family, and the other from hers; if they wish for peace, God will cause their reconciliation: For God hath full knowledge, and is acquainted with all things.(Surah 4 Verse 35)

But, if after exhausting all methods of reconciliation, the hatred between the husband and wife is still greater than tolerance, and then divorce becomes inevitable. Here comes the genius of the Islamic law, which holds practical, rather than unrealistic approaches, towards real situations. The ultimate aims of marriage, as well as any other aspect of human life, are to achieve happiness and virtue. So, when people are denied their right to end an unhappy marriage, these two aims are not met. This is, as the couple will live in suffering, which may lead them to marital infidelity. Thus divorce in this case if weighed up to the disaster of family disintegration – will be less disastrous.(end quote from Zawaj)

  • If Woman does not like her Husband she can leave him or if the marriage is against her will she can leave her husband.

Refutation Series IX: Polygamy

Islam allows LIMITED polygamy provided that the man treats his wives justly otherwise he should marry only one woman.

8) Refutation Series VIII: The Tyranny of Men over Women

Allegation number 9: Polygamy

Islamwatch says

Polygamy The Quran:

Sura (4:3) – (Wife-to-husband ratio) “Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

Sura (4:129) – “Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire” (but don’t let that stop you, husbands, because your needs come first anyway).

 Response

The author has quoted the verses and the reply is in the verses itself. Read the highlighted words above. It shows how much importance Islam gives to justice and how strict Islam is with regards to women’s rights.

And the author must note how many women their religions allows them to marry.

The following verses of HOLY QURAN throws some more light on the same issue:

  • “Marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one.”[Al-Quran 4:3] And
  • “Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women….”[Al-Quran 4:129]

Allah is not saying it is obligatory, rather its a choice. And if the wives are happy then what is the problem?? Let them live happily and dont be their advocate, they dont need this favor.

Yes, it is the problem of the Man if he marries 2 women, how would he make them live happily and how would he do justice with both of them, it should not be the problem of others.

Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said, ???? ??????? ???? ???????????? ??????? ???? ????????????? ????? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ????????? ??????

(Whoever has two wives and inclines to one of them, will come on the Day of Resurrection with one of his sides dragging.)

(Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2/242; al-Tirmidhi, 3/447; al-Nasaai, 7/64; Ibn Maajah, 1/633; classed as saheeh by al-Haafiz Ibne Hajar Aqalani in Buloogh al-Maraam, 3/310, and al-Albaani in Irwaa al-Ghaleel, 7/80).

Sayings of Great Scholars of Islam on treating Wives equally

Al-Shaafai (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars indicate that a man has to divide his days and nights between his wives [giving each a full day and night], and that he has to be fair in doing so. (al-Umm, 5/158). And he said: I do not know of any (scholarly) disagreement with the view that a man must share his time among his wives and do so fairly. (al-Umm, 5/280).
Al-Baghawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: If a man has more than one wife, he has to treat them equally, if they are free [i.e., not slaves], whether they are Muslims or from among the People of the Book [i.e., Jewish or Christian]. If he does not treat them equally, then he has disobeyed Allaah and he has to make it up to the one whom he wronged. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever has two wives and leans towards (i.e. favours) one of them (over the other), will come on the Day of Resurrection with half of his body leaning. . (Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2/242; al-Tirmidhi, 3/447; al-Nasaai, 7/64; Ibn Maajah, 1/633; classed as saheeh by al-Haafiz in Buloogh al-Maraam, 3/310, and al-Albaani in Irwaa al-Ghaleel, 7/80).
Ibn Hazam (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Treating co-wives equally is obligatory.
(al-Muhalla, 9/175)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: He has to treat his wives fairly according to the consensus of the Muslims. In the four Sunans it was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever has two wives He has to be fair in his division of time between them. So if he stays with one of them for one night, or two or three, he should stay with the other for the same number of nights, and he should not give preference to one of them in his sharing of his time.
(Majmoo al-Fataawa, 32/269)
Al-Ayni said, commenting on the hadeeth, Whoever has two wives: It was said that what was meant was that half of his body would be leaning in a real sense, or that he would have no acceptable excuse for favouring one wife over the other. The apparent meaning is that this is in the real sense. This is indicated by the report of Abu Dawood, with half of his body leaning. The punishment fits the crime, because he did not treat them fairly or he deviated from what is right. Because of his being unfair and favouring one of them, his punishment is that he will come before the witnesses on the Day of Resurrection with one half of his body leaning.
(Umdat al-Qaari, 20/199. See also al-Mabsoot, 5/217).
Al-Shawkaani also understood this to mean that it is obligatory (to treat co-wives fairly). See al-Sayl al-Jiwaar, 2/301; Nayl al-Awtaar, 6/216
Ibn Qudaamah al-Maqdisi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: We know of no dispute among the scholars concerning the fact that it is obligatory to treat co-wives equally when sharing ones time between them. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): and live with them honourably [al-Nisaa 4:19], but favouring one of them is not honourable.
Al-Mughni, 8/138
Ibn Qudaamah said:
The man does not have the right to make his two wives live together in one house without their consent, whether they are young or old, because that causes them harm due to the enmity and jealousy that exists between them, so making them live together provokes arguments and fighting, and each of them can hear sounds when he is intimate with the other, or she can see that. But if they agree to that then it is permissible, because they have that right but they are also allowed to forego it.
Al-Mughni, 7/229.
Shaykh Muhammad Salih Al Munajjid said
This husband has to fear Allaah and be fair in his division of his time. The wife has to tell him of the ruling of shareeah concerning what he is doing, and of the warning of mistreatment. She should remind him of Allaah and the Hereafter, so that he will check himself and be fair in his division of time. This is better than separating, in sha Allah. And Allaah knows best.

H) Dr Zakir Naik Said:

In Western society, it is common for a man to have mistresses and/or multiple extra-marital affairs, in which case, the woman leads a disgraceful, unprotected life. The same society, however, cannot accept a man having more than one wife, in which women retain their honourable, dignified position in society and lead a protected life.

Refutation Series VIII: The Tyranny of Men over Women

Men and women have different roles but are equal in Islam. Infact Islam UPLIFTS women. The article explains this in detail.

Allegation number 8: The Tyranny of Men over Women

Islamwatch quoted

The Tyranny of Men over Women

The Quran:

Sura (24:31) – “And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known.” The woman is not only supposed to cover herself, except with relatives, but to look down, so as to avoid making eye-contact with men.

Sura (33:59) O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) over their bodies (when outdoors). That is most convenient that they should be known and not molested.

Sura (24:60) Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage,- there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not a wanton display of their beauty: but it is best for them to be modest: and God is One Who sees and knows all things.

Sura (33:32-33) O Consorts of the Prophet! … stay quietly in your houses, and make not a dazzling display, like that of the former Times of Ignorance (i.e., Muhammad’s wives should stay in their houses)

Response:

These ayahs are regarding Hijab. Both males and females (who are not husband and wife) should not look each other with lust, these are limits prescribed in Islamic law.

 HIJAAB FOR WOMEN

  • The status of women in Islam is often the targeted in the secular media. The hijaab or the Islamic dress is cited by many as an example of the subjugation of women under Islamic law. Before we analyze the reasoning behind the religiously mandated hijaab, let us first study the status of women in societies before the advent of Islam

 1. In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust

The following examples from history amply illustrate the fact that the status of women in earlier civilizations was low to the extent that they were denied basic human dignity:

 a. Babylonian Civilization: The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

b. Greek Civilization: Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very glorious system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an imaginary woman called Pandora is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

c Roman Civilization:  When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its glory, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

 d. Egyptian Civilization: The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

e Pre-Islamic Arabia:  Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status.

  •  Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

HIJAB FOR MEN

  • People usually only discuss hijaab in the context of women. However, in the Glorious Quran, Allah (swt) mentions hijaab for men before hijaab for the women. The Quran mentions in Surah Noor:

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.”[Al-Quran 24:30]

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

Hijaab for women The next verse of Surah Noor, says:

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands fathers, their sons…”[Al-Quran 24:31]

3. Hijaab includes conduct and behaviour among other things

  • Complete hijaab, besides the six criteria of clothing, also includes the moral conduct, behaviour, attitude and intention of the individual. A person only fulfilling the criteria of hijaab of the clothes is observing hijaab in a limited sense. Hijaab of the clothes should be accompanied by hijaab of the eyes, hijaab of the heart, hijaab of thought and hijaab of intention. It also includes the way a person walks, the way a person talks, the way he behaves, etc.

 4. Hijaab prevents molestation

The reason why Hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Quran in the following verses of Surah Al-Ahzab:

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”[Al-Quran 33:59]

  •  The Quran says that Hijaab has been prescribed for the women so that they are recognized as modest women and this will also prevent them from being molested.

 5. Example of twin sisters

  • Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Quran rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

 6. Capital punishment for the rapists

Under the Islamic shariah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment. Many are astonished at this harsh sentence. Some even say that Islam is a ruthless, barbaric religion! I have asked a simple question to hundreds of non-Muslim men. Suppose, God forbid, someone rapes your wife, your mother or your sister. You are made the judge and the rapist is brought in front of you. What punishment would you give him? All of them said they would put him to death. Some went to the extent of saying they would torture him to death. To them I ask, if someone rapes your wife or your mother you want to put him to death. But if the same crime is committed on somebody elses wife or daughter you say capital punishment is barbaric. Why should there be double standards?

 7. Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of womens liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honor. Western society claims to have uplifted women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketers, hidden behind the colorful screen of art and culture.

 8. USA has one of the highest rates of rape

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got bolder in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

 9. Implementation of Islamic Shariah will reduce the rate of rapes

Naturally as soon as Islamic Shariah is implemented positive results will be inevitable. If Islamic Shariah is implemented in any part of the world, whether it is America or Europe, society will breathe easier. Hijaab does not degrade a woman but uplifts a woman and protects her modesty and chastity.

Islamwatch quoted:

Sura (33:30) O Consorts of the Prophet! If…any of you are devout, obedient, and submissive in the service to Allah and His Messenger, and does good, to her shall We grant her reward twice. We have prepared for her a generously rich provision.

Sura (33:53) And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should… marry his [Muhammad’s] widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in God’s sight an enormity. (i.e., Nobody can marry Muhammad’s widows after he is dead.)

Response

No one can marry the Prophet (pbuh)’s wives because they are the Mothers of the believers, is there any problem? When the author couldnt find any other allegation to put forth, he is trying to be an advocate of the MOTHER OF THE BELIEVERS. When those pious ladies had no objection and they led their lives according to the will of ALLAH and the way they were commanded, and they lived happily, the author again has a problem. The rules regarding the Mother of the believers were sometimes different than the other women.

  • I am unable to find any INJUSTICE from the verses quoted by the author , because the first verse talks about REWARD (twice) for the believing women and the second verse talks about maintaining the purity and piousness and respecting the umm-ul-momineen (mothers of believers).

Islamwatch quoted

Sura(33:54) You must not speak ill of Gods apostle, nor shall you ever wed his wives after him; this would be a grave offense in the sight of Allah. The great adulator/fornicator condemned his wives to a life of loneliness.

Response

The Author has misquoted a verse. 33:54 is not what he mentioned. The actual verse is given below:

[033:054] Whether you reveal anything or conceal it, verily, Allah is Ever AllKnower of everything.

Islamwatch quoted

From the Hadith:

Bukhari (6:321) – Muhammad is asked whether it is right for a young woman to leave her house without a veil. He replies, “She should cover herself with the veil of her companion.”

Bukhari (60:282) – After Muhammad issued the command (Sura 24:31) for women to cover themselves, the women responded by tearing up sheets to cover their faces.

Narrated Safiya bint Shaiba:’Aisha used to say: “When (the Verse): “They should draw their veils over their necks and bosoms,” was revealed, (the ladies) cut their waist sheets at the edges and covered their faces with the cut pieces.”

Abu Dawud (2:641) – The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah does not accept the prayer of a woman who has reached puberty unless she wears a veil.

Response:

These ahadeeth are Regarding Hijab. Please read what has been mentioned above for the reply on Hijab. The face veil is not obligatory according to some scholars while it is according to some others.

Imam Ibne Katheer said;

Ibne Abbas RadhiAllahanho said “She(woman) should bring the jilbaab close to her face without covering it. Narrated by Imam Shaf`aee with Good Chain there is No Harm in it. (Irshad al faqeeh 1/324)

Face Veil Obligatory or Mustahab?

http://systemoflife.com/articles/general/196-obligation-of-face-veil

It is not permissible for a woman to cover her face and hands during salaah.

One point that must be kept in mind is that Islam considers women as precious. That is the reason she is directed to cover herself properly so that she can avoid the gaze of men and so that no one passed remarks on her figure or body parts. Why would an honourable lady invite unnecessary comments on herself? Every respectable lady would like to be respected which she will get on presenting herself in a respectable manner!

Islamwatch quoted

Bukhari (52:250) – [The Prophet said] “It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Muhram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case for ever; e.g. her father, brother, etc.).”

Narrated Ibn Abbas: That he heard the Prophet saying, “It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Muhram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case for ever; e.g. her father, brother, etc.).” Then a man got up and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! I have enlisted in the army for such-and-such Ghazwa and my wife is proceeding for Hajj.” Allah’s Apostle said, “Go, and perform the Hajj with your wife.”

 Response

Yes it is true that a woman should not be alone with a man who is not her Mahrum. For her protection there should be a mahrum with her

The Prophet peace be upon him once ordered a sahabi not to go to Jihad but to be with his wife and protect her from those who had bad intentions. Islam is the best system when it comes to protecting women, taking care of them, respecting and honoring them, and regarding them as precious jewels that must be guarded against evil.

In the second hadith quoted by the author we see that when it comes to protection of women even jihad was placed second. This makes it clear that women are treated respectably. The man mentioned in the hadith could have gone for jihad, but he was ordered to go for hajj with his wife. Why? It was because he was to TAKE CARE of his wife. His wife is his priority over other duties.

Shaafais and Maalikis, and some of the salaf, were of the view that it is permissible for a woman to travel for Hajj without a mahram, if she travels with a trustworthy group.

They quoted these evidences, that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did Hajj without a mahram. That is mentioned in the report narrated by al-Bukhaari (1860), that Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) gave permission to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) during the last Hajj that he performed, and he sent Uthmaan ibn Affaan and Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Awf with them.

It was narrated that Adiyy ibn Haatim (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Whilst I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), a man came to him and complained of poverty. Then another came and complained about banditry. He said: O Adiyy have you seen al-al-Heerah? I said: I have not seen it, but I have been told about it. He said: If you live a long life, you will see a woman travelling from al-Heerah until she circumambulates the Kabah, fearing no one but Allaah. Adiyy said: And I saw a woman travelling from al-Heerah until she circumambulated the Kabah, fearing no one but Allaah.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3400).
Lastly The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Sauda when she went out and Umar bin al khattab ra said, “O Sauda! By Allah, you cannot hide yourself from us, so think of a way by which you should not be recognized on going out.”
Then Sauda ra said “O Allah’s Apostle! I went out to answer the call of nature and ‘Umar said to me so-and-so.” Then Allah inspired him (the Prophet) and when the state of inspiration was over and the bone was still in his hand as he had not put in down, he said (to Sauda), “You (women) have been allowed to go out for your needs.”  (Bukhari Book #60, Hadith #318)

Ibn Hajar said in Fath al-Baari,
 ??? ??? ?????? : ” ?????? ??? ?????? : ??? ???? ?????? ???????????? ???? ??? ???????? ???? ?? ?????????????? “

Ibn Battaal said: The interpretation of this hadeeth is that it is permissible for women to engage in dealings according to their needs.

They quoted as evidence that which the questioner mentions, that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did Hajj without a mahram.
Those who say that a mahram is not required quoted the following as evidence:

When ISLAM gives a wife this STATUS, the most prior of the duties, why will she not be proud to be a muslim?

Why won’t a muslim lady will feel secure and protected in a muslim family?

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) spoke beautiful word concerning kind treatment of ones wife, stating that when the husband feeds his wife and puts a morsel of food in her mouth, he earns the reward of doing an act of charity. He said, You never spend anything but you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel of food that you lift to your wifes mouth. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6352; Muslim, 1628.

Fewer seats for women in Allah’s Paradise

Islamic Scriptures inform us that most Muslim women will go to hell.

The Quran:

Sura (37:22-23) Those who “did wrong” will go to hell, and their wives will go to hell with them (no matter how they behaved).

Response

What a misrepresentation of the translation of the verses! They are not even close to what the Quran actually says.

The correct translation is:

[037:022] (It will be said to the angels): “Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship.

[037:023] “Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell)

Ibne Kathir Commented: An-Nu`man bin Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Their companions means their counterparts, those who are like them.” This was also the view of Ibn `Abbas, Sa`id bin Jubayr, `Ikrimah, Mujahid, As-Suddi, Abu Salih, Abu Al-`Aliyah and Zayd bin Aslam.” Sharik said, narrating from Simak, from An-Nu`man: “I heard `Umar say:

??????????? ????????? ????????? ???????????????

(Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions) means, `Those who are like them. So those who committed Zina will be gathered with others who committed Zina, those who dealt in Riba will be gathered with others who dealt in Riba, those who drank wine will be gathered with others who drank wine.’ Mujahid and Sa`id bin Jubayr narrated from Ibn `Abbas:

????????????????

(their companions) means “Their friends.”

?????? ???????? ?????????????? ????? ????????

(and what they used to worship. Instead of Allah,) means, instead of Allah, i.e., their idols and false gods will be gathered together with them in the same place.

(now please read it carefully, and then decide yourself, the author tried to wrongfully, prove his allegation, which has no place in islam.)

????????????? ????? ?????? ???????????

(and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire.) means, take them to the way to Hell.(end quote from Tafsir Ibne Kathir)

  • Where did it say, WIFE to be thrown in hell along with the husband? NOwhere.
  • The Author is ADVISED to read the translation of QURAAN from authentic sources before blindly raising points on the Quran and Islamic teachings.

Islamwatchquoted

From Hadith:

Bukhari (2:28) – Women comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants. This is important because the only women in heaven ever mentioned by Muhammad are the virgins who serve the sexual desires of men. (A weak Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal, 22:10, even suggests that 99% of women go to Hell).

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you.” “Among the inmates of Heaven women will be the minority” (Sahih Muslim 36: 6600)

“I (Mohammed) have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-Fire were women…[because] they are ungrateful to their husbands and they are deficient in intelligence” (Sahih Bukhari: 2:18:161; 7:62:125, ).

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Abbas:…The Prophet replied, “I saw Paradise and stretched my hands towards a bunch (of its fruits) and had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. I also saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why is it so?” The Prophet replied, “Because of their ungratefulness.” It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah. The Prophet said, “They are ungrateful to their companions of life (husbands) and ungrateful to good deeds. If you are benevolent to one of them throughout the life and if she sees anything (undesirable) in you, she will say, ‘I have never had any good from you.’ “

Response

This is warning for those women who are ungrateful to their husbands, This is for men also (he should not deceive wife)Let me give you examples

Example No: 1

It was narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn Shibl (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Merchants are the evildoers.” It was said: O Messenger of Allaah, has Allaah not permitted buying and selling? He said: “Yes, but they speak and tell lies, and they swear oaths and sin (as a result).” [Narrated by Musnad Ahmad (3/428); al-Haakim (2/8), al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (366).]

Comment: From this hadeeth, Can we say all businessmen are evildoers and will not enter paradise? Simply no because this is for those who lie in business as it is clear from other hadeeth

It was narrated from Rifaa’ah ibn Raafi’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The merchants will be raised on the Day of Resurrection as evildoers, apart from those who fear Allaah and are honest.” [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1210), al-Daarimi (2/247), Ibn Maajah (2146) and Ibn Hibbaan (11/276), al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (994).]

Comment:
Is too easy to understand that Prophet peace be upon him is warning businessmen and traders to deal justly in their transaction.

Example No: 2

Prophet peace be upon him said
“He who deceives us is not one of us,” or, “He is not one of us who deceives us.” (Narrated by Muslim).

Comment: Can we say the one who cheat is a Kafir and will go to hell? Simply no but he is a sinner and can go to hell, Prophet peace be upon him is warning against cheating, same goes to the hadeeth of women, those women (can go to hell) who are not good with their husbands, as it is clear from text of the hadeeth which says

“They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.'”[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1052]

Comment: So clearly If someone is not doing this she will surely enter Paradise, also Note that, those men will not enter paradise who cheat, and proof for this is.

It was narrated that Ma’qal ibn Yassaar al-Muzani (may Allaah be pleased with him) said during his final illness: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘There is no person whom Allaah has put in a position of authority and he dies on the day he dies cheating those under his authority, but Allaah will forbid Paradise for him.'” This was narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim; this version was narrated by Muslim

Comment: This is a stern warning which includes everyone whom Allaah has placed in a position of authority, whether great or small, starting from the individuals of a royal family. A Mother should not cheat her children, a husband should not cheat his household including his wife (usually a father is a head of house), Everyone must be sincere towards those who are under their authority, and not cheat or deceive them, Now i am quoting the answers of those who already replied these anti Islamic people on this hadeeth

The Muhadditheen (experts in Hadith) have resolved this apparent contradiction through the following explanations:

1. These Ahaadith are clear that females in Jannah and Jahannum will outnumber males by a great margin. (Sharh al-Nawawiy vol.9 pg.170)

2. The women could be more in Jahannam and less in Jannah at the beginning. Thereafter, when they are cleansed of their sins or when intercession on their behalf is accepted, they would be entered into Jannah and they would outnumber the men there too. (Fath al-Baari vol.6 pg.401; Hadith3246 Sifatul Jannah of Hafiz ibn Katheer pg.130)

3. The Ahaadith that indicate the women as the major inhabitants of Jahannam refer to that time when Rasulullah [Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam] had physically seen Jannah and Jahannam. They do not mention that it will always remain like that. (Faydhul Baari and Malfoozaat-e-Kashmiri vol.4 pg.244)

First of all the fact that women are the majority of hell is not offensive. Because if the hadith said that men were the majority, then everyone is going to shout that that is offensive as well. So people like Ali Sina expect there to be an exact number of women and men in hell. This is silly.

Secondly, the hadith doesn’t say that they would be in hell due to their gender, but due to their sins. Thus, how is this degrading to women?

Thirdly, if the ratio of women to men here on planet earth is larger, then it is only logical that the ratio of women to men in hell would also be larger.

Now for a women to disobey her husband is not a trivial issue. It is indeed a serious sin. Even if a Muslim man mistreats his wife, this is indeed a serious sin.

Narrated by AbuBakr as-Siddiq

The Prophet (saws) said, “One who treats badly those under his authority will not enterParadise .”

The wisdom behind the statement of the Messenger of Allah (saws) warning the believing woman was not to belittle or demean the role of women, but rather a warning and a guidance to make sure they fulfill their part in developing peace, harmony and tranquility in their marriage; and Allah is our witness sister, nothing is more hurtful to men than to hear these words from their wives after a lifetime of sacrifices that ”I have never received any good from you!”
