Sawad Al-Azaam (Majority of the Muslims).

Assalam Walaikum Wa Rehmat Ullahi Wa Bara Katu Hu!

We often find Misguided people quoting Weak hadith to support their stance, there is a hadith that “Follow the Largest Group”, and there are other hadiths which talks about Jammat (Group) or Community not Sawad Al Adh`am (Majority).
First we do critical analysis on the hadith of Sawad Al-Adh`am then we put forward some questions to these people.

The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

…Follow the way of the largest group ! [Sunnan Ibn Majah, Hadith # 3950,same hadith is Narrated by Ibne Hameed and Muhaddith Ibne Abi Asim in his As Sunnah hadith no: 84]

  • Objections

1. Abu khalf al-a’maa is rejected in hadith

2. Muaan bin Rafa`a has some weakness in hadeeth

Tawassul Refutation Series (Athar of Imam Malik & Jafar)

The Athar

Once caliph Ab? Jafar Mans?r visited Medina and he asked Imam M?lik: While supplicating, should I turn my face to the prayer niche [and turn my back to the Holy Prophet (??? ???? ???? ???? ????)] or should I turn my face to the Holy Prophet (??? ???? ???? ???? ????) (and turn my back to the prayer niche)? On this interrogation, Imam M?lik replied: (O caliph!) Why do you turn your face from the Holy Prophet (??? ???? ???? ???? ????), as he is the source of mediation for you and for your ancestor Adam (???? ??????) on the Day of Judgement? Rather you should (pray and supplicate by) turning towards the Prophet (??? ???? ???? ???? ????) and seek his intercession so that he intercedes for you before Allah on the Day of Judgement. Allah has declared:

“We sent not an apostle, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah.s forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful”(4:64)

Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about a stranger who comes to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) each day. He said, That is not right, and quoted the hadith, O Allah, do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped.

Al-Qaadi Iyaad was asked about people of Madeenah who stand by the grave one or more times a day, and they send salaams and make duaa for a while. He said, I have not heard of this from any of the fuqaha, and nothing is good for the latter generations of this ummah except that which was good for its first generations. I have not heard that any of the first generations of the ummah used to do that.

Reply by Ibne Abdul Hadi to As Subki

Taken From: http://www.umm-ul-qura.org/info/user_pages/page.asp?art_id=111

As-Subki also quoted the narration of Qadhi Iyad in his Shifa that Jafar Mansur, the second ‘Abbasid caliph, when visiting the Prophetic mosque asked Imam Malik: Shall I turn my face towards the Kaba or face the grave of the Messenger of Allah (saw) for invocation? To which Imam Malik replied: How can you turn your face away from the Messenger of Allah? He is your Wasilah and the Wasilah of your father Adam, peace be upon him! Rather turn your face towards him and seek intercession though him!…

The Isnad is Qadhi Iyadh: Qadhi Abu Abdillah Muhammad ibn AbdirRahman Al-Ashari and Abu Al-Qasim Ahmad ibn Baqi Al-Hakim and others who gave me the authority to narrate this, they said: Abu Al-Abbas Ahmad ibn Umar ibn Dalhath narrated to us, Abul Hasan Ali ibn Fihr narrated to us, Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Al-Faraj narrated to us, Abul Hasan Abdullah ibn Al-Muntab narrated to us, Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Abi Israil narrated to us, ibn Humayd narrated to us: he said Abu Jafar Emir Al-Muminin called Malik in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (saw)

Ibn Abdil Hadi said after quoting the story attributed to Imam Malik: I say: What is known from Malik is not facing the grave for invocation, and this story quoted by Qadi Iyad with his Isnad to Malik is not true from him, and the objector (As-Subki) said in a place of his book its Isnad is a good (Jayd) Isnad, and he is mistaken in this saying with a clear mistake, rather the Isnad is not good, it is an unjust Munqati (disconnected) Isnad, and it comprehends someone accused of lying, and on some whose condition is not known, and ibn Humayd is Muhammad ibn Humyd Ar-Razi, he is weak with a lot of Manakir, not based upon in narrations, and he did not hear anything from Malik nor met him, rather this narration from him is Munqati not continuous.

And the objector thought that he (Muhammad ibn Humayd) is Abu Sufyan Muhammad ibn Humayd Al-Muamari, one of the trustworthy narrators present in Sahih Muslim, he said: Al-Khatib mentioned him among those who narrated from Malik and he made a clear mistake in his thinking and an ugly error, because Muhammad ibn Humayd Al-Muamari came before, Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Abi Israil the narrator from ibn Humayd in the story did not reach him, rather there is a great gap between them. Al-Muamari narrated from Hisham ibn Hasaan, Muamar and Ath-Thawri, and he did in 182H before the birth of Yaqub ibn Ishaq ibn Abi Israil. As for Muhammad ibn Humayd Ar-Razi then he is among the narrators from Al-Muamari like Abu Khaythamah, ibn Numayr, Amr An-Naqid and others, and his death was in 248, and it is possible for Yaqub ibn Ishaq to narrate from him contrary to narrating from Al-Muamari, because it is impossible.

Muhammad ibn Humayd Ar-Razi, and he is the one from whom the narration is narrated, has been criticised by many Imams and some attributed lie to him.

Yaqub ibn Shaybah As-Sudusi said: Muhammad ibn Humayd Ar-Razi mentions many Manakir (note from Muhaqiq of Sarim Al-Munki: see Tahzib 9/129)

Al-Bukhari said: Hadithuhu fihi Nadhar (his Hadith has observations) (At-Tarikh Al-Kabir 1/69 and Ad-Duafa As-Saghir n315)

An-Nassai said He is not Thiqah (Ad-Duafa wal Matrukin p 32)

Ibrahim ibn Yaqub Al-Juzjani said: He had a bad Madhab, he is not trustworthy (Ahwal Ar-Rijal n382)

Fadlak Ar-Razi said: I have fifty thousands Ahadith from ibn Humayd, and I do not narrate a word from him. (Tahzib 9/129)

Abul Abbas Ahmad ibn Muhammad Al-Azhari said: I heard Ishaq ibn Mansur saying: I witness in front of Allah that Muhammad ibn Humayd and Ubayd ibn Ishaq Al-Atar are both liars. (Tahzib 9/129)

Salih ibn Muhammad Al-Hafiz: Every Hadith from Sufyan that reached him he would turn it to Mihran, and every Hadith from Mansur that reached him he would turn it Amr ibn (Abi) Qays, and every Hadith of Al-Amash that reached him he would turn it to similar to these and to Anbasah then he said: Everything he was narrating, we would accuse him (of lying in it).

And he said in another place: His Ahadith would add (in words) and I have not seen someone daring (more lies) on Allah than him, he would take the Ahadith of people and would inverse them and he said in another place: I have not seen anyone more keen to lie than two men: Sulayman Ash-Shazkuni and Muhammad ibn Hameed Ar-Razi, he would learn a Hadith one day, and would add, and every day he would add (words). Abul Qasim said: Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abdil Karim Ar-Razi, the nephew of Abu Zurah: I asked Abu Zurah about Muhammad ibn Humayd and he made a sign putting his finger on his mouth I asked him: Would he lie? and he answered with his head saying yes

Abu Nuaym Abdul Malik ibn Muhammad ibn Adi
: I heard Abu Hatim Muhammad ibn Idris Ar-Razi in his house, and AbdurRahman ibn Yusuf ibn Kharash was present with him and also a group of scholars of (region of) Ray and their Hufaz of Hadith, and they mentioned ibn Humayd and they agreed on the fact that he was very weak in Hadith and he narrates what he did not hear, and he would take the Ahadith of the people of Basrah and Kufah and narrate them from the two Razi. Abul Abbas ibn Said said: I heard Dawud ibn Yahya saying: Abu Hatim heard from him before, meaning from Muhammad ibn Humayd then he left him at the end, he said: I heard AbdurRahman ibn Yusuf Kharash saying that ibn Humayd narrated to him and by Allah he was a liar. (Al-Kamil 6/2277)

Abu Hatim ibn Hibban Al-Busti said in his Kitab Ad-Duafa: Muhammad ibn Humayd Ar-Razi, his Kubiyah is Abu Abdillah, he narrates from ibn Al-Mubarak and Jarir, our Shuyukh narrated from him and he died in 248H, and he was among those who were alone in inversing narrations of Thiqat, and specially when he narrated from the Shuyukh of his country

Al-Uqayli said in his Kitab Ad-Duafa: Ibrahim ibn Yusuf narrated to us, he said: Abu Zurah, Muhammad ibn Muslim narrated a lot from Muhammad ibn Humayd then they stopped narrating from him. And Al-Hakim Abu Ahmad said in his Kitab Al-Kuna: Abu Abdillah Muhammad ibn Humayd Ar-Razi is not strong for them and Abu Abdillah ibn Yahya Az-Zuhli and Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaymah abandoned him. End of ibn Abdil Hadis words

Also after the weakness of ibn Humayd, there is also disconnection as ibn Humayd did not meet Malik as explained by Ibn Taymiyah in his Al-Qaidah Al-Jalilah fi Tawassul Wal Wasilah and this chain contains other unknown narrators.

Translation: Abu Ali Ghisani Said Abu al Fath Nasr bin al Hasan al Sakti Samarqandi told us in 464 h there was a drought in Samarqand, People tried their best, some said Salat al Istisqa but still it did not rain, A renowned righteous man known as Salih came to the Qadhi and said: In my opinion you along with your public should visit the grave of Imam Bukhari (Rahimuhullah), His grave is located in Khartank, We should (go near the Qabr) and ask for rain, Allah might give us rain then, The Qadhi said Yes to his opinion and then he along with the people went towards (the Qabr) and then He made a dua along with the people and people started to cry near the grave and started to make him a Waseela (i.e. Imam Bukhari). Allah Taala (immediately) sent rainclouds. All people stayed in Khartank for about 7 days, none of them wanted to go back to Samarqand although the distance between Samarqand and Khartank was only 3 miles [As Siyar al Alam An Nabula Volume 12, Page No 469]

There is no value of Hikayah in ISLAM specially in creed. It could be weak, fabricated or Authentic, Creed are based on Quran and Authentic Sunnah (those who use this athar according to them hadith should be mutwatir for creed) but here they are using Hikayah of Mutakhiroun and not even from Tabiyeen and Itteba Tabiyeen.

Abdullah bin Mubarak Rahimullah rightly said

Chains are in deen, if chain is not there then anyone can say anything.

For Verily visiting the graves with the intention that our prayers will be accepted is not allowed and it is closer to Haram

Sahaba faced so many difficulties after the death of Prophet (peace be upon him) drought came to them,.. so Why didnt they came to the grave of Prophet of Allah? Why they didnt requested him (peace be upon him) for rain? Why they didnt call at his grave? Prophet (SAW) is the highest of the creation in the sight of Allah

In fact at the time of drought OMAR Ra went to Eid GAH with Abbas RA and asked him to pray for rain(prayer of istesqa see Sahih bukhari for detailed athar). They never  prayed near grave of Prophet (peace be upon him). O Muslim If You are follower of Allah like your Salaf as Saleh were so follow them, do Research of Correct Tauheed, Do not Worship other then Allah, Do not Make Partners of Allah. As Allah Commanded (Therefore worship Me.) and Allah says (So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.”)  (end)

This book is publish by ????? ?????? ?????  Qahirah with the Tahqeeq of Mustafa Ashoor Also ??? ????? ??????? ????? with the Tahqeeq of Mustafa Abdul Qadir Ata, Suyuti ra is clear in his stance some people may quote suyuti where He has related the tradition of Adams intermediation in ad-Durr-ul-manth?r (1:58) and al-Khas?is-ul-kubr? (1:6) and also he quoted the tawassul of jews in his book.but this is only he has narrated not that those were his own wrdings and 2ndly Hafiz As-Suyuti himself weakened the narration of jews in his Dur ul Manthur. and weakened the narration of Adam peace be upon him in Sharah As shifa.

Fakhar ud Din Al Razi Said

Fakhrudin Ar-Razi in the Tafsir of  verse 18 of surah yunus mentioned different sayings of scholars about how the Mushriks took idols as intermediary towards Allah, and he mentioned in fourth explanation:

They built these statues and idols upon the forms of their Prophets and leaders (Akabir), and they believed that when they would worship these idols, then these leaders (Akabir) would become intercessors for them in front of Allah. And what is similar to this in our times is the veneration (tazeem) of a lot of people among the creation of the graves of their leaders (Akabir), with the belief that if they venerate their graves, then they (leaders) will be intercessors for them in front of Allah.

This Athar is Against the Practise of Sahaba

It is against Quran and Sunnah and Sahaba, Islam is not derived from Stories

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)said , Do not take my grave as a place of festivity (which you visit repeatedly). Ibn Hajar al-Haythami said in Sharh al-Mishkaat:

????? ??? ?? ??????? ? ???? : ???? ??????? ??????? ??? ?? ???? ? ??????? : ?? ?????? ???? ????? ??????? ?????? ???? ??????? ??????? ?????? ? ????? ??? : ( ????? ????? ??? ?????? ?????? ??? ???? ) ??? ???? ????? ?? ???
Eid is the name of one of the festivals, and it was said that it means returning and repeating, until it becomes a habit [aadah]. What is meant is: do not make my grave a place to which you have the habit of coming back repeatedly and often. Hence he said, Send blessings upon me for your greeting will reach me no matter where you are, because that is sufficient and there is no need to visit his grave frequently.

Athar of Omar RadhiAllahAnho

It was narrated that al-Maroor ibn Suwayd (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

????? ?? ??? ?? ?????? ???? ??? ?? ??? ?????? ???? ??????? ????? ????? ??? ???? ??? : ?? ????? ? ?????? : ??? ???? ??? ??? ???? ???? ??? ???? ???? ???? ???? ??? : ???? ????? ???? ??? ?? ??? ????? ???????? ??? ??? ??? ??????? ???? ??? ???? ?? ??? ???? ????? ??? ?? ???? ?? ??? ???? ?????

We went out with Umar ibn al-Khattaab and we came across a mosque on our route. The people rushed to pray in that mosque, and Umar said, What is the matter with them? They said, This is a mosque in which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) prayed. Umar said: O people, those who came before you were destroyed because they followed such (practices) until they made them places of worship. Whoever happens to be there at the time of prayer, let him pray there, and whoever is not there at the time of prayer, let him continue his journey. (Narrated by Ibn Waddah in his book al-Bida wal-Nahiy anhaa; classed as saheeh by Ibn Taymiyah in al-Majmoo, 1/281).

Athar of Ali bin Hussain Bin Ali Ra

Ali ibn al-Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with him) saw a man entering through a gap at the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and making duaa. He told him not to do that and said, Shall I not tell you a hadeeth that I heard from my father from my grandfather from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)? Do not take my grave as a place of festivity (which you visit repeatedly) and do not take your houses as graves. Send blessings upon me for your greeting will reach me no matter where you are.

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2042; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1796.

Abu Yala and al-Haafiz al-Diya in al-Mukhtaarah

Mentioned by Shaikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah in Kitaab al-Waseelah (p.136) and al-Iqtidaa p.155-156

Shaikh al-Albanee in Ahkam al-Janaaiz, p.280.

Ibn Waddaah al-Qurtubi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

???? ???? ??? ??? ????? ?? ????? ??????? ?????? ????? ??????? ???? ?????? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??? ???? ?????

Maalik ibn Anas and other scholars of Madeenah regarded it as makrooh to go to those mosques and historical sites connected to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), apart from Quba and Uhud. (al-Bida wal-Nahiy anhaa, p. 43).

Shaykh al-Islam Ibne Tamiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

????? ?? ????? ????? ????? ?? ??? ??????? ?????? ??? ??? ?? ???????? ???? ???????? ??? ????? ??? ???? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ??? ???? ???? ??? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ?? ???? ????? ????? ???? ???? ??? ??

Hence the scholars of the salaf among the people of Madeenah and elsewhere did not regard it as mustahabb to set out to visit any places in and around Madeenah after the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), apart from the mosque of Quba, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not specify any mosque to be visited apart from that. (Majmoo al-Fataawa, 17/469).

Shakulh Ul Islam Ibne Tamiyah said

Question:

The companions never used to come to the grave of the Prophet (Sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam) during their residency in Al-Madeenah

Answer:

So they would not if they were in Al-Madeenah, visit his grave, and nor would they come to it not for duaa or for other than it. Rather they would come to his Masjid, and for every prayer they would be in his Masjid, and other than his Masjid, and they would say: As-salaamu alaika ayyuhan Nabi wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu and they would send salaat upon him and would ask for him to be given the waseelah when they would hear the adhaan just as he had taught them in his Sunnah. The welfare in this is mighty, since what is achieved by way of this is multiplied in comparison to visiting his grave, whilst they also feared that it could be a pretext/excuse towards shirk, and constant visitation, and idolatry.
So this fear arose when it was possible to enter upon him, so when they blocked that they prevented the people from entering upon him. Thus there was no way anyone could to make the well known visit, and no shirk, and not taking his grave as idol worship, and thus no one could but then pray except to his Masjid, and his Masjid is not his grave nor his home, rather his Masjid was built for the five daily prayers and other than them.

Note : That Angels are neither dead nor is Essa but calling them Ghaibana comes in the category of Shirk because even they are certain rules for a calling an alive person that he should be alive, and should be present. Then it will not be known as Shirk but Attat (following) of Allah swt because in the Qur’an we find calling an alive person. And even the Mushriks used to call each other in Wars and in other Wordly aspects but it is not condemned as Shirk in Quran and Sunnah.

Allah says in
3:52
“But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah’s helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him).”

2:60
“And when ye said: O Moses! We are weary of one kind of food; so call upon thy Lord”

Or calling an alive person to make Dua, see these two also 5:2 and 8:72.

If someone is in the other country you are calling him through cell phone or etc then it will not come in the category of Shirk also because such as we say “Take help from the right hand when you eat” this is not Shirk but this is the Natural Power Allah has given us. We say eat the bread to satisfy your stomach, or drink water to quench your thirst these all comes in the category of wordly things which Allah has given us.

But when such Angels, Jinns and Prophets have got no Power to remove harm or do benefit how can any Awlia or other one can do that.

The Mushriks used to call the Dead Pious Persons, Not Only Idols. From Bukhari they were the names of Pious People :

Narrated Ibn Abbas: (regarding His Statement about the Lat and the Uzza: Lat was originally a man who used to mix Sawiq for the pilgrim. (Book #60, Hadith #382)

See for more details Tafsir of Ibn-e-Kathir (rah).

Their Aqida regarding this Pious People they used to call them directly not from the Idol, pertaining them to Omnipresent, or the Power that they have after death to benefit and to remove harm see this hadith must :
Bukhari :

Narrated Al-Bara bin Azib: The Prophet appointed ‘Abdullah bin Jubair as the commander of the infantry men (archers) who were fifty on the day (of the battle) of Uhud. He instructed them, “Stick to your place, and don’t leave it even if you see birds snatching us, till I send for you; and if you see that we have defeated the infidels and made them flee, even then you should not leave your place till I send for you.” Then the infidels were defeated. By Allah, I saw the women fleeing lifting up their clothes revealing their leg-bangles and their legs. So, the companions of ‘Abdullah bin Jubair said, “The booty! O people, the booty ! Your companions have become victorious, what are you waiting for now?” ‘Abdullah bin Jubair said, “Have you forgotten what Allah’s Apostle said to you?” They replied, “By Allah! We will go to the people (i.e. the enemy) and collect our share from the war booty.” But when they went to them, they were forced to turn back defeated. At that time Allah’s Apostle in their rear was calling them back. Only twelve men remained with the Prophet and the infidels martyred seventy men from us. On the day (of the battle) of Badr, the Prophet and his companions had caused the ‘Pagans to lose 140 men, seventy of whom were captured and seventy were killed. Then Abu Sufyan asked thrice, “Is Muhammad present amongst these people?” The Prophet ordered his companions not to answer him. Then he asked thrice, “Is the son of Abu Quhafa present amongst these people?” He asked again thrice, “Is the son of Al-Khattab present amongst these people?” He then returned to his companions and said, “As for these (men), they have been killed.” ‘Umar could not control himself and said (to Abu Sufyan), “You told a lie, by Allah! O enemy of Allah! All those you have mentioned are alive, and the thing which will make you unhappy is still there.” Abu Sufyan said, “Our victory today is a counterbalance to yours in the battle of Badr, and in war (the victory) is always undecided and is shared in turns by the belligerents, and you will find some of your (killed) men mutilated, but I did not urge my men to do so, yet I do not feel sorry for their deed” After that he started reciting cheerfully, “O Hubal, be high! (1) On that the Prophet said (to his companions), “Why don’t you answer him back?” They said, “O Allah’s Apostle What shall we say?” He said, “Say, Allah is Higher and more Sublime.” (Then) Abu Sufyan said, “We have the Al Uzza, and you have no Uzza.” The Prophet said (to his companions), “Why don’t you answer him back?” They asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What shall we say?” He said, “Says Allah is our Helper and you have no helper.” (Book #52, Hadith #276)

From this we came to know the Gods of Mushriks, whom were not present at the time of Uhud they believed in them and called them by “Ya Hubal” that they have the Powers to remove their harm or benefit them. However they were dead same is the case with Essa,Uzair, Maryam the mother of Essa, Angels, Jins etc. As i have quoted above. So this proves they don’t used to worship Idols but the Dead ones.

A brief discussion on “Min Dun Illah”

  • a) Does MindunIllah includes only Idols?.

Imam Ibn-e-Kathir writes :

This Ayah ?3:79? means, it is not for a person whom Allah has given the Book, knowledge in the Law and prophethood to proclaim to the people, “Worship me instead of Allah,” meaning, along with Allah. If this is not the right of a Prophet or a Messenger, then indeed, it is not the right of anyone else to issue such a claim.

Here Mindunillah refers to Jinns,Angels and Mankind whom they used to Worship. Such as Essa, Uzair and Angels.

Here Allah swt says to Prophet (s) that don’t call any Sanam or Ila besides your Creator because they can neither benefit or harm you in this world on in the hereafter. Means don’t expect from them any benefit or worship them in fear of any difficulty. They neither posses any ability to do harm or benefit. If such thing happens from you then it means that you have called besides Allah of which result would be that you will be amongst the group of Mushriks who have done unjust to themselves.

The evidence for this is that:

Atai (Given) or Zati (Own) Powers ?.

The Mushriks also used to believe that the Powers to whom they call are being given by God (Atai) not their Own (Ziyati) as the today Kalma Gou Mushrik Believes.

Sahih Muslim Book 007, Number 2671:

Ibn ‘Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) reported that the polytheists also pronounced (Talbiya) as: Here I am at Thy service, there is no associate with Thee. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Woe be upon them, as they also said: But one associate with Thee, you possess mastery over him, but he does not possess mastery (over you). They used to say this and circumambulate the Ka’ba.

[ Al-Majam Al Kabir Al-Tabrani Fee Majma Al-Zawaid 10/159 ]

Tabrani narrates from his own sanad that at era of Prophet (s) one Munafiq used to bother Sahabas. So the Sahabas had suggested amongst themselves that we should go to the Prophet (s) and do Istighasa to get rid of him. Prophet (s) said from me Istighasa cannot be done, but Istighasa should only be done from Allah swt.

Prophet prohibited this word for his personality, however he had the power in his life to do this. The prohibition of this is the creed of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah in his Zaat, Sifat and Ibadah). So that doors which lead to Shirk should be closed for the Ummah. When he prohibited in his life when he can do that how can it be permitted after his death, which (Istighasa) only suits the Zaat of Allah swt and which belongs solely to him.

As Allah Promised that :

2:186
“When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calleth on Me: Let them also, with a will, Listen to My call, and believe in Me: That they may walk in the right way.”

4:60
“And your Lord says: “Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell – in humiliation!”

12:87
“Surely none despairs of Allah’s mercy except the unbelieving people.”

4:110
“If any one does evil or wrongs his own soul but afterwards seeks Allah’s forgiveness, he will find Allah Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” ????? ????? ??????? ?????? ???????/ ???????? (? 685 ??)

Proof that “Istighasa” is Ibadah (Worship).

???? ?????????????? ????????? ???????????? ?????? ?????? ?????????? ????????? ????? ????????????????? ??????????? (???)

When ye sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): I will help you with a thousand of the angels, rank on rank.

Surah Al-Anfal Chapter 8 Verse 9.

In the great calamity and difficulty the Prophet (s) and Sahabas sought the “Istighasa” from Allah swt, neither did the Prophet did “Istighasa” from any of the Anbiya and neither did the Sahabas did take Istighasa from Prophet (s).

Are the verses revealed to condemn Stealing,Illegal Sexual Intercourse, Shirk can be used for Muslims if they are found doing that ?.

Today if you find a Muslim doing Zina, Shirk, Robbery then the Muslim will be a Zani, a Robber and a Mushrik.

First we have to look at the Usool :

“Rulings are dealt with by their indications, not the specific reasons behind revealing them”

We will see here the indications that if a Ayat is revealed to Condemn Shirk, if the same indication is found there in then the ayat should be applied onto him we will not see to whom Allah has directed there, because the same indication is found there in. There are many Usools but this one is sufficient to refute the lame claim of Kalma Gou Mushriks of today. However the Indication must be there of which Allah speaks about in that Ayat.

If a indication such as Shirk, Robbery, Zina is find in them such verses should be applied unto him because that Illat is there in.

However whether the verses revealed for Mushriks or Kuffar. Because there is no conflict in this amongst Muslims if someone is find doing Kufr so the ayats in will be applied onto him such as taking his matter to Taghut or etc.

That’s why you find Great Muffasirs like Imam Qurtubi (rah), Allama Alusi (rah), Imam Razi (rah) declaring those People as Mushriks who read out Kalima but indications found in them about Shirk.

It is reality that Ayat’s of Shirk were revealed in the era of Mushriks and to refute their Practices and Creed. But not only these Ayats but the whole Qur’an was revealed in the era of Mushriken-e-Arab. But at the same time we have to keep this reality in mind that there is consensus of Muslims amongst this that Qur’an-e-Kareem is the last word of God which can applied to every individual, group or nation in every era because it is a live message for everyone. The rulings of it are till Qayamat, the Rulings of it doesn’t see the caste, color, area and era. Allah gives warning not only to Mushrikeen-e-Makah but to the whole of Mankind by giving them warning.

Imam Ibn-e-Kathir (rah) quotes this Usool in his Great Tafsir under this Ayat:

????????? ????????? ?????????? ??? ?????????? ??????? ???????????? ???????????? ?????????????? ????????? ???????????

(27. O you who believe! Betray not Allah and His Messenger, nor betray knowingly your Amanat (things entrusted to you))

Surah Anfal 8:27

However, it appears that this Ayah is more general, even if it was revealed about a specific incident. Such rulings are dealt with by their indications, not the specific reasons behind revealing them, according to the majority of scholars.

Example :

You will often find Muqallids (Blind Followers) quoting one ayat to prove Taqleed (Blind Following):

Surah An-Nahl 16:43

So ask Ahl Adh-Dhikr, if you know not.”

now let us look about whom it was revealed they were Mushriks and Disbelievers as well.

Imam Ibn-e-Kathir :

So ask Ahl Adh-Dhikr, if you know not.). meaning, (ask) the people of the previous Books.

It was reported by Mujahid from Ibn `Abbas that what is meant by Ahl Adh-Dhikr is the People of the Book.

http://www.qtafsir.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2975&Itemid=71

Imam Ibn-e-Jarir Tabari :

{ ??????????? ?????? ????????? } ??? ????? ?? ????? ????? ?? ?????: ??????? ??????????? ???? ??? ?? ??? ???? ????? ?????? ???? ??????.

????? ??? ????? ???: ??? ????????????? ?? ????? ?? ??????: { ??????????? ????? ???????? } ???: ??? ???????.

????? ??? ????? ???: ??? ????? ????? ?? ????????? ?? ???? ????? ?? ??????? ?? ??? ?????: { ??????????? ????? ???????? ??? ????????? ?? ???????????? } ???: ??? ??????? ????: ?? ??????? ??? ??????? ??????????.

Imam Tabari quotes so many Scholar Mujahid, Amash, Ibn-e-Abbas etc that Ask the People of the Book (Torah and Injeel).

Imam Fakharuddin Razi :

[?????: 13] ???? ??? ???? ????? ??? ?????? ????? ?????: { ???????????? ?????? ???????? ??? ??????? ??? ??????????? } ???? ?????:

??????? ??????: ?? ?????? ???? ????? ????: ?????: ??? ??? ???? ??? ???? ?????: ???? ??? ???????? ?????? ?? ???????. ??????? ???? ???? ?????:

[????????: 105] ???? ???????. ??????: ??? ??????: ??????? ??? ????? ????? ?????? ????? ??? ???? ?????? ????? ?????? ?? ???????? ???? ???? ???????: ??? ????? ??? ????? ?????? ???????? ?? ?????? ?????? ???? ?????? ??.

He says the same about the People of the Book.

Imam Qurtubi :

{ ???????????? ?????? ????????? } ??? ?????: ???? ????? ??? ??????

He quotes Imam Sufyan that ask the faitful People of the Book.

In Tafsir-e-Nafsi :

{ ???????????? ?????? ????????? } ??? ?????? ???????? ?? ???? ?? ???? ??? ????? ??????? ??? ?????

Same here ask the People of the Book.

These tafsirs are enough to refute the claim, however you often find scholars of every sect using this ayat to ask from the Muslim Scholars. So this is lame claim what the Khawarij did they interpreted with their own Tafsir leaving aside the Salaf and did Takfir on Companions. Hazrat Ali (r) appointed Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (r) to take decision it is obvious he would have done from the Quran and Hadith, but they did wrong intrepretation and applied to the Muslims as the Shia claims that all the Sahabas MazAllah are Murtad (executed) from Islam except their Imams.

The fundamentals of Happy marriage.

Faith: The most basic and essential attribute of a Muslim marriage is the common faith that binds the couple.

Since Islam is a way of life and not just a religion confined to weekly worship it becomes an integral part of a Muslims life. The frame of reference shared by the couple eases communication and sharing of values which is not possible in an interfaith marriage. It is highly recommended that faith play an important role in the developing a loving relationship.

For example, as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, that when a husband feeds his wife, he gets a reward for this act and Allah increases the bond of love between them. So when we love each other for the sake of Allah WE ACTUALLY INCREASE OUR FAITH.

Forgiving: When the Prophet Muhammad asked his Companions do you wish that Allah should forgive you they said, of course O Prophet of Allah. He responded, then forgive each other.

One of the main components of a happy marriage is that the spouses are able to forgive, that they do not hold grudges or act judgmental towards each other. It is expected that when we live with someone, situations may arise when we end up saying or doing things that hurt our spouses. The challenge is not to dwell on it or lay blame but to move past it. This can only happen if we are not too proud to ask for forgiveness and we are not stingy to forgive.

If we expect Allah to forgive us than we must learn to forgive.

Forget: When we constantly remind our spouses of all the times they let us down or hurt us we have not truly forgiven. Things that happened in the past must be left there and not be used as fresh ammunition in new situations. Couples who use this technique usually fall in a rut and become victims of their own pettiness, unable to break free.

Forbearance: Sabr (patience) is the most useful tool to have in managing a healthy lifestyle. Being patient and forbearing puts us in a proactive frame of mind it brings us closer to Allah through Tawakul and reliance .We develop an inner mechanism that empowers us to handle lifes difficult moments. As Allah states in Surah al-Asr: Surely by time humans are at loss, except those who believe and do righteous deeds and counsel each other to the truth and counsel each other to Sabr (Quran, chapter 103).

Flexible: Many couples unnecessarily make themselves miserable because they are unwilling to bend a little.

We should not expect our spouses to be our extensions. They are their own selves with personalities, likes and dislikes. We must respect their right to be them selves as long as it does not compromise their Deen (religion). Being inflexible and not accommodating for individual differences leads to a very stressful and tense home atmosphere.

Friendship: This aspect of marriage has three components.

First is to develop a friendship with our spouses. The relationship based on friendship is more able to withstand outside pressures.

We honor, trust, respect, accept and care for our friends, in spite of our differences. These are the aspects of friendship we should bring to our marriages.

Unfortunately the only aspect that people think of bringing to their marriage which is highly inappropriate is the buddy scenario. Shariah (Islamic law) has placed the husband in a leadership role within a family. This requires a certain decorum, which cannot be maintained if the spouses consider each other as pals.

This should not be taken to mean that husband is a dictator but a shepherd who is responsible for and to his flock. This is a position of grave responsibility and places an enormous burden on the husband. Further more the children need to see their parents as friends but not as pals as this encourages disrespect.

Friendly: Second aspect of friendship is to have friendly relations with in-laws. When couples compete as to whose parents are more important it becomes a constant source of grief. Much valuable time is wasted trying to convince, one another of whose parents are most desirable. It is better if we accept, that our spouses will not overnight fall in love with our parents just because we want them to. As long as they maintain friendly relations that are cordial and based on mutual respect we should not force the issue.

Friends: The third aspect of friendship is our circle of friends. It is okay to have individual friends of the same gender but couples must also make effort to have family friends so that they can socialize together. If there is friction being caused by a certain friendship it must not be pursued at the expense of the marriage. Prophet Muhammad advised us to choose God fearing people as friends since we tend to follow their way. Friends should be a source of joy and not mischief.

Fun: Couples that do not laugh together have to work on sharing some fun times. The Prophet was known to play with his wives. A simple walk in the park can add much spark to the relationship. Taking up a sport together or watching clean funny movies is another way of sharing a laugh.

Faithful: It is commanded by Allah that we be faithful to our spouses. Adultery is a capital crime in Islam that is punishable by death. However there are various forms of unfaithful behavior prevalent among some Muslims.

The most common form is maintaining friendships with the opposite sex over the boundaries set by Islam, and the misgivings of the spouse. The latest trend of Internet relationships is also contrary to Islamic Adab (etiquette) and is causing serious problems between couples. Once a sense of betrayal sets in, repairing that relationship is difficult. Another form of not being faithful is when couples betray confidences. This is a trust issue and one when compromised eats away at the heart of a marriage.

Fair: Usually when we are angry or displeased the tendency is to not play fair. We try to convince ourselves that since we have been wronged it is okay to be unjust in our behavior and our statements. Allah states in the Quran do not be unjust under any circumstances, even if they be your enemy, and here we are talking about our life partners and the parent of our children. To use words such as never and always when describing the behavior of the partner is unfair and puts the other on the defensive.

Finance: One of the most common points of contention in marriages is money. Experts tell us that 80 percent of marital conflicts are about money.

It is therefore highly recommended that the couple put serious time and effort in developing a financial management plan that is mutually agreeable and is reviewed every six months or so. Preparing a budget together is also a helpful and wise way to handling household finances. It should be remembered that the wifes money in Islam is hers to do with as she pleases and therefore should not be considered family income unless she chooses to contribute it to the family.

Family: Parenting can be a stressful experience if the parents are not well informed. This in turn can put extra pressure on the marriage.

Sometimes couples are naive about the changes that come in the lifestyle. This can cause in some cases depression and in some resentment and misunderstandings. One golden rule that must always be the guide is; that family comes first.

Whenever there is evidence that the family is not happy or not our first priority it is time to assemble at the kitchen table and discuss with open hearts and mind. Couples who have elderly parents have an added responsibility to take care of them. This can also be very stressful if the couple is not prepared.

A care plan must be worked out with respective siblings and parents as to who will be the primary care giver and what type of support network they will have. In case of mental incompetence a power of attorney must be in place. The making of a will is most essential .

Feelings: Prophet Muhammad stated that Allah forgives all sins if we repent but not those we have committed against others i.e. hurt their feelings unless the person we have hurt forgives first.

Couples are sometimes very careless when it comes to their spouses feelings, they take them for granted and assume that the other knows what they mean. It is surprising that people are more sensitive and courteous to strangers than they are to their loved ones. One must be ever vigilant and careful that they do not hurt the feelings of their spouses and if they invariably do, they should apologize as soon as possible. Since one does not know when someone they love will leave this world, is it not better to make amends when we have the time?

Freedom: Marriage in Islam is a partnership and not bondage or slavery. To consider the wife ones property is alien to Islamic concept of husband and wife role. The team spirit is enhanced and not curtailed when members of the team are free to be themselves. Freedom in the common western since is to be free to do as one pleases or to be selfish. On the contrary, to allow freedom to ones spouse is to be considerate of their needs and to recognize their limitations.

Flirtation: A sure way to keep romance in marriage is to flirt with your spouse. Many successful marriages have maintained a youthful demeanor in their marriages by adopting special names for each other and secret communication styles.

Frank: Misunderstandings happen when couples are not honest with each other. Marital relationship is where the partners must feel safe to speak their mind with due consideration to the others feeling, without compromising their own views. When the communication is not frank it hinders in the development of closeness and deep understanding of each others inner self.

Facilitator: When choosing our life partner, we must, as the Prophet advised, look for a pious Muslim. The reason is that their first and foremost goal is the pleasure of Allah. This commitment to Allah makes them an excellent facilitator for enhancing their partners spiritual development. In essence, the couple facilitates their familys commitment to Allah and His Deen.

Flattering: Paying compliments and indulging in honest flattery is a very inexpensive way to win your spouses heart. Everyone likes to be appreciated and noticed. So being stingy about compliments is actually depriving oneself of being appreciated in return.

Fulfilling: To be all one can be to ones spouse is a very fulfilling and rewarding experience. To be in love means to give ones all. The heart does not put conditions or make stipulations. It gives without expecting anything in return, but such selfless giving is always rewarded tenfold.

Fallible: It often happens that our expectations sometimes are so high that we lose focus of the fact that we are fallible beings. When couples start to nitpick and demand the impossible they must remind themselves that only Allah is perfect.

Fondness: So many times couples fail to work on developing fondness for each other by [failing] to see their spouses as people through the eyes of their respective friends. Spending quality time alone doing and sharing activities are ways in which one can develop fondness.

Future: Smart couples plan for their future together. They work on their financial and retirement plans, make wills and discuss these plans with their children. This provides peace of mind and secures the relationship.

“Salamah ibn Waradan said : I saw Anas ibn Malik doing salam on the Prophet saw then he put his back towards wall of grave and did dua, and this is from which there is no dispute between scholars, and the dispute is only in time of salam. Abu Hanifah says one should also face qiblah during salam and he should not face the grave, and other than him said one should face grave during salam only, and none of the 4 Imams said to face the grave during dua, except a lied story from Malik, and his madhab is opposed to that, and the same for the story reported from ShafiI that he made purpose of dua at Abu Hanifas grave, this is from clear (blatant,Obvious) Lie.rather they said to face Qiblah during dua and not to face grave so that dua is done on graves, because dua is worship as it is established from Tirmidhi in marfu form ( words of Prophets) : Dua is worship and salaf from Sahabah and TabiI made singled ibadah for Allah, and they did not do anything on the grave except what the Prophet peace be upon him permitted from salam to his companions and istighfar for them and mercy for them.(end)

Shaykh ul Islam Ibne Tmiyah Rejected this Narration in Iqteza Sirat Al Mustaqeem page 343 and 344

Ibnul-Qayyim said in Ighathatul Lahfan fi Masayid Al Shaytan (1/246): “Story related from al-Shafi’ that he made supplications at Abu Hanifa’s grave is apparently lie.”

Shaykh Zubair Ali Zai HafidhaUllah mentioned that it is fabricated and accused those who use this athar, and he said Omar bin Ishaq is Majhool.

And Tahqiq of Kalam (verified speech) in this place is that Istighathah with creation, and making it a  Wasilah in the meaning of asking Dua to them, there is no doubt in its permissibility if the sought person is alive, and we do not restrict this to the case of the one being asked is superior, rather one can ask the superior and the inferior, and it has been authenticated that he (saw) asked Umar (to make dua for him) when he sought for permission for Umrah: Do not forget your brother in your dua and he ordered him as well to seek Uwais AL Qarni so he seeks forgiveness for him, and he (saw) ordered the community to ask Wasilah (place in paradise) for him as it has just been mentioned and by they sending Sala upon him.

As for when the sought person is dead or absent, it is not hidden for scholars that it is not permissible and it is from innovations that none of the Salaf did

And it did not come from any of the Sahabah – and they are among the most desiring people from creation to seek any good- that they asked the dead anything, rather it is authentically reported from Ibn Umar that he used to say when he entered prophetic chamber when making Ziyarah (visit of the grave): As-Salam Aleyka Ya Rasula Allah, As-Salam Aleyka Ya Aba Bakrin, As Salam Aleyka Ya Abati (Peace be upon you O messenger of Allah, peace be upon you O Abu Bakr, peace be upon you O my father), then he left and he did not add to that and he did not seek anything from the leader of the universe (saw) or from his two nobles companions lying next, and they are the most virtuous from what surface can ever gather and have the highest value from what all containing places can ever contain.

Yes Dua near the noble presence and holy Garden (Rawdah), Sahabah used to invoke Allah here facing the Qiblah and it did not come from them that they would face the sacred grave during Dua while it is better than Arsh (Throne of Allah). The Imams differed whether to face it for sending Salam, according to Abu Hanifah, one should not face it but put it at his back and face the Qiblah, and some said that one should face (the grave) for Salam and then face the Qiblah and turn back (from grave) for Dua, and the authentic view (of Abu Hanifah), what is depended upon, is that one should face (the grave) for Salam and for Dua he should face the Qiblah and put the noble grave on his right or left.

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) never left anyone after himself anyone more superior than Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (ra), since he was his Khalifah and no one did this through him and nor through Umar (ra) and he was the best of the Ummah after him. Then likewise, Uthman (ra) and then all of the Companions, with respect to whom there is no one who is more superior. There is not established from a single one of them any authentic report that states that someone would make tabarruk from them in any of these ways or what is similar to them . Rather they restricted themselves to following and imitating the actions and statements in which they (the Companions) followed the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) . This, therefore is a unanimous agreement from them for the abandonment of these things.

This Athar is Against Authentic Hadeeth

It is not permissible to travel with the intention of visiting the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or the grave of any other person, according to the more correct of the two scholarly opinions, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
No one should travel for the purpose of visiting (any mosque) except three: al-Masjid al-Haraam (in Makkah), this mosque of mine (in Madeenah) and al-Masjid al-Aqsaa (in al-Quds/Jerusalem). Agreed upon).

Majmoo Fataawa wa Maqaalaat Mutanawwiah li Samaahat al-Shaykh al-Allaamah Abd al-Azeez ibn Abd-Allaah ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him), vol. 8, p. 336

Musannif Ibne Abi Shaiba hadith no Vol 4 Hadith no: 7623

Note: Visiting the graves of Muslims in all places is Sunnah and is an act of worship, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Visit graves, for they will remind you of the Hereafter. (Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh).

But here in this weak Athar Imam Al shafi`ee is Making Tabarruk and Tawassul Through the Grave of Abu Haneefa RA and Visit the Grave everyday, its no where allowed and Against Authentic Sunnah of Prophet peace be upon him and Salaf..

Quotes below are taken from the book Mawsuah Ahlus Sunnah of Shaykh AbdurRahman Ad-Dimashqi written in refutation of the Ahbash.

The Ahbash have claimed that Tabarruk with the graves is correct and they justified this by what Khateeb Al-Baghdadi narrated that Ash-Shafii said: I do Tabarruk with Abu Hanifah and I go to his grave every day -meaning for visit- and when I have a need I pray two Rakah and I go to his grave and ask my need to Allah (Taala) and I do not leave it until it is fulfilled (Tarikh Baghdad v 1 p 123)

This Sanad to Ash-Shafii contains Majhul (unknown) narrators as said by Allamah Al-Muallimi. Shaykh Albani said in his Silsilah Ad-Daifah (1/31): This narration is weak, rather Batil (pure falsehood), because Umar ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim is not known and there is no mention of him in books of narrators. And it is possible that he is Amr ibn Ishaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Humayd ibn us-Sakan Abu Muhammad At-Tunsi, and Al-Khateeb mentioned him (12/226) and mentioned that he was from Bukhara and he went for Hajj in 341H and he did not mention any Jarh nor Tadil (criticism or praise) so he is Mahlul ul Hal, and it is unlikely that he (the narrator Umar ibn Ishaq) is him (Amr ibn Ishaq) because the death of his Shaykh Ali Maymun is in latest case in 247H, so there is between their death approximately 100 years, so it is unlikely that he reached him (meaning Amr ibn Ishaq did Hajj in 341 and it is difficult for him to narrate from Ali Maymun who died in 247, so the narrator of this narration is unlikely to be Amr ibn Ishaq)

Ash-Shafii said in his Al-Umm v 1 p 278: I consider it Makruh that creation should be venerated (Tazim) until his grave is transformed into a place of worship (mosque) fearing the Fitnah for him and for those after him

An-Nawawi in his Sharh Muslim quoted the words of Ash-Shafii v 7 p 24, Janaiz Bab 32 and Majmu v 5 p 298: I have seen among the rulers some who destroyed what was built upon graves and I have not seen the Fuqaha blaming this

Al-Baydhawi said in his Hashiyah Sunnan An-Nasai v 2 p 42 that the Jews and the Christians used to come to the graves of their saints for prayer and invocation

Comment: When Ash-Shafii mentioned he saw rulers destroying constructions over graves, so if the people of this time and he himself were doing Tabarruk on graves, why did he failed to mention this?

And if Ash-Shafii was doing such actions, why didnt he do this on graves of Sahabah?

Why would he fail to mention in his books such actions if they were to be beneficial?

Can anyone having little reason believe that Ash-Shafii do such actions and believe them to be beneficial then fail to mention this in his books and recommend to do such actions on graves of Sahabah?

Tawassul Refutation Series (Jews Tawassul Through Prophet)

The Athar

Ibn ‘Abbas said: “The Jews of Khaybar were fighting the tribe of Ghatfan. When they met in battle, the Jews were defeated so the Jews supplicated with this supplication: “Indeed we ask You by the right of the unlettered Prophet who You promised to send to us at the end of time, that you give us victory against them.” When they met (the tribe) of Ghatfan in battle again, they called out with this supplication and defeated them. When the Prophet was sent, they disbelieved in him, so Allah revealed: (Though before that they were asking for a signal triumph over those who disbelieved -and when there came to them that which they know (to be the truth) they disbelieved therein. The curse of Allah is on disbelievers.) (al-Baqara: 89)

What Exactly Jews said?

From abridged Commentary of Ibne Kathir it Says

Before this Messenger came to them, they used to ask Allah to aid them by his arrival, against their polytheistic enemies in war. They used to say to the polytheists, “A Prophet shall be sent just before the end of this world and we, along with him, shall exterminate you, just as the nations of `Ad and Iram were exterminated.” Also, Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated that Ibn `Abbas said, “The Jews used to invoke Allah (for the coming of Muhammad ) in order to gain victory over the Aws and Khazraj, before the Prophet was sent. When Allah sent him to the Arabs, they rejected him and denied what they used to say about him. Hence, Mu`adh bin Jabal and Bishr bin Al-Bara’ bin Ma`rur, from Bani Salamah, said to them, `O Jews! Fear Allah and embrace Islam. You used to invoke Allah for the coming of Muhammad(peace be upon him)when we were still disbelievers and you used to tell us that he would come and describe him to us,’ Salam bin Mushkim from Bani An-Nadir replied, `He did not bring anything that we recognize. He is not the Prophet we told you about.’ Allah then revealed this Ayah about their statement,

????????? ????????? ??????? ????? ????? ??????? ????????? ?????? ?????????

(And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Qur’an) from Allah confirming what is with them (the Tawrah) and the Injil (Gospel)).”’

Abu Al-`Aliyah said, “The Jews used to ask Allah to send Muhammad (Peace be upon him)so that they would gain victory over the Arab disbelievers. They used to say, `O Allah! Send the Prophet that we read about – in the Tawrah – so that we can torment and kill the disbelievers alongside him.’ When Allah sent Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and they saw that he was not one of them, they rejected him and envied the Arabs, even though they knew that he was the Messenger of Allah. Hence, Allah said,

????????? ???????? ???? ????????? ????????? ???? ?????????? ??????? ????? ??????????????

(Then when there came to them that which they had recognized, they disbelieved in it. So let the curse of Allah be on the disbelievers). ”(end)

Bida`ee Tawassul Refutation Series (Athar of Ayesha RA)

The Athar

Imam D?rim? Relates from Abu al-Jawza Aws bin Abdullah: The people of Medina were in the grip of a severe famine. They complained to Aishah (about their terrible condition). She told them to go towards the Prophets grave and open a window in the direction of the sky so that there is no curtain between the sky and the grave. The narrator says they did so. Then it started raining heavily; even the lush green grass sprang up (everywhere) and the camels had grown so fat (it seemed) they would burst out due to the over piling of blubber. So the year was named as the year of greenery and plenty.

Note: This narration is also in his(saeed bin zaid) lone narrations, so this is weak, And the people who are using this hadeeth as evidence they claim that we need mutwatir ahadeeth for creed, How strange! they are going against their own rule (i.e) using weak ahdeeth of lone narrators for their false creed?

Below is The reply taken from ISLAM QA and i believe it is sufficient for this Narration, let us see from text of this athar, It is no where proving Tawassul and Istegatha.

b) Islam QA says

This hadeeth is not proof for what the extreme Sufis believe about it being permissible to seek rain by the help of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). You cannot find in the hadeeth anything which indicates that, by any stretch of the imagination. The most that can be said is that it shows how Allaah honoured his Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) after he died, as al-Daarimi described in his Musnad in the chapter heading under which he included this hadeeth. This is the blessing of his pure body and his honour before Allaah. But that does not mean that it is permissible for the Muslims to go to him and seek his help whilst he is in his grave. The Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) did not do that, rather they opened a hole in the roof of his room so that it might be directly open to the sky, but none of them asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for rain, and they did not speak to him concerning that.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Iqtida al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem (p. 338)

Going to graves to offer supplication beside them, and seeking a response to duaa offered there more than duaas offered elsewhere, is something that was not prescribed by Allaah or His Messenger, and was not done by any of the Sahaabah, Taabieen or imams of the Muslims. It was not mentioned by any of the earlier scholars or righteous men. Rather most of what has been narrated concerning that comes from some of the later figures, after the second century (AH).

The companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) were faced with drought several times, and other calamities befell them, but did they come and seek rain and seek help at the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)?

Rather Umar went out with al-Abbaas and sought rain through him, i.e. through his duaa; he did not pray for rain by the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Indeed it was narrated from Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that she uncovered he grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) so that rain might fall on it, because it (rain) is a mercy, but she did not pray for rain there, or seek divine help there. End quote.

Thus it is clear that there is no evidence in this report for the Sufis that it is permissible to seek help from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) or to seek to draw closer to Allaah by means of him or his status.

And Allaah knows best.

Moreover Prophet Peace be Upon him himself said

Imam Ahmad reported that a man of Balhajim said: “O Messenger of Allah, what are you calling for” He said:

??????? ????? ????? ???????? ??????? ???? ??????? ????? ???????????? ?????? ??????? ????????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ????? ????????? ????????? ???? ??????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ???

(I am calling people to Allah Alone, the One Who, if you call on Him when harm befalls you, will relieve you; and when you are lost in the wilderness, you call on Him and He brings you back: and when drought (famine) strikes, you call on Him and He makes your crops grow.)

Musnad Ahmad hadith no: 19718 Quoted by Ibne Kathir In his Commentary of Quran Under 27:62

Source of Musnad Ahmad:http://ar.wikisource.org/wiki/????_????_??_????/????_????????/24

Prophet peace be upon him Never said when Drought Strikes, You Call on Me and I can Help you, If Calling him for help or making Waseela of His Dhaat (Essence) was Prescribed in ISLAM He Peace be upon him Should have told us regarding that.

Conclusion:

1. This athar is weak
2. This athar is not mutwatir and asharies need mutwatir hadeeth for creed.
3. This athar is not proving any kind of asking dead or tawassul from the essance of Prophet peace be upon him.

It is related from Malik al-Dar, `Umars treasurer, that the people suffered a drought during the time of `Umar (his khilafah), whereupon a man came to the grave of the Prophet and said: O Messenger of Allah, ask for rain for your Community, for verily they have but perished, after which the Prophet appeared to him in a dream and told him: Go to `Umar and give him my greeting, then tell him that they will be watered. Tell him: You must be clever, you must be clever! The man went and told `Umar. The latter said: O my Lord, I spare no effort except in what escapes my power!”

Objections on this Athar

1. If chain is Authentic that does not mean it can be apply to the Text.(Asool al Hadeeth)

2. According to Asharis the hadeeth Should be Mutwatir for creed so even if it is proven saheeh its not Hujjah for them because it is not Mutwatir.

3. We can not Base our Creed from Dreams because Islam is Complete.

4.Malik Ad Dar is disputed Over (some says Known and Some says Unknown).

5. Inqita (discontinuity in the chain) between Abu Salih As Samaan and Malik Ad Darr.

6. Amash is Mudallis and narrating from (AN).

7. These words (that a man came to the grave of Prophet…) are Munkar because Bukhari mentioned the Saying of Omar RA in tareekh al Kabeer from same Malik ad dar and these words are not there.

8. This Athar is against the Athar of Omar RA (Mentioned in Saheeh Bukhari)

9. Scholars on the hadith of Umar ra

10. Logical Arguments on the hadeeth by Umm Abdullah (including the person is majhul who came to the grave of Prophet and he never told Omar ra this whole story)

Objection no: 1 (If chain is authentic that does not mean it can be apply to the Text.)

Ibne Katheer and Ibne Hjar never authenticated hadeeth but the chain

Proof for this claim is as follows

a) Ibn Katheer says:

” ????? ?????? ?? ????? ??? ??????? ?? ???? ??? ????? ???? ??? ????? ? ?? ?? ???? ????? ?? ?????? “

The fact that the chain is deemed to be authentic or hasan does not necessarily mean that the same applies to the text, because it may be shaadhdh (odd) or muallal (faulty).[Ikhtisaar Uloom al-Hadeeth (p. 43).]
.

Important Note: Ibne Kathir Authenticated the chain of the hadith of Malik ad Dar but as it is evident according to him if chain is authentic that does not mean hadith is also authentic, For example he authenticated the chain of the hadeeth of Mahmood bin Lobaid in prohibition of saying three divorces at a time in(Irshad al Faqeeh Vol 2 page 194) by saying “Narrated by Nisai with good and powerful chain” but he himself said in his (Commentary of Quran Under 2:229) regarding same narration that “There is Inqitah (Discontinuity) in the chain”.
.

b) Hafidh Ibn e hjar asqalani

He never authenticated the hadeeth even according to him if chain is authentic that does not mean hadeeth is also authentic for example he himself weakened the hadith of Amash where he is narrating from the mode (An) Ibne Hajar said

???? ?? ???? ?? ??? ????? ???? ?? ???? ????? ??? ?????? ???? ??? ???? ????? ?? ????

Because trustworthiness of the chain does not mean that its sahih (meaning hadeeths is sahih) Amash is mudallis and he did not narrate his sama from Ataa[Talkhees al hubeerno: 1181]

Comment: This is a proof that Hafiz Ibne Hajar and Ibne Kathir never authenticated the hadeeth itself, and according to Ibne Hajar Amash is not proof in his tadlees see further quotes.

c) Al-Haafiz ibn al-Salaah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

????? : ( ??? ???? ???? ??????? ?? ??? ??????? ) ??? ????? : ??? ???? ???? ?? ???? ??? ???? ?? ???? : ??? ???? ???? ??????? ? ??? ??? ????? ???? ?? ?????

When they say This hadeeth has a saheeh isnaad or a hasan isnaad instead of this is a saheeh hadeeth or a hasan hadeeth, that is because it may be said that this hadeeth has a saheeh isnaadbut it is not saheeh per se because it is shaadhdh (odd) or muallal (faulty). [Muqaddimah fi Uloom al-Hadeeth (p. 23)]

d) Al-Iraaqi said in his Alfiyyah:

” ?????? ??????? ?????? ?? *** ?????? ??? ????? ????? ???? “

The ruling that the isnaad is saheeh or hasan does not necessarily apply to the text. [Al-Tabsirah wal-Tadhkirah (1/107)]

e) Hafidh Ibn al Qayyim al Joziyah RA saidin his book Al-Sawaiq Al-Mursalah 2/395 [publisher Maktabah Al-Riyadh]:

“The scholars of the science of hadith have always said ‘It has been authentically reported from the Prophet sallallaho’alaihiwasallam’ (Sahha ‘Anhu); and this is doubtless affirmation from them that the Prophet sallallaho’alaihiwasallam said that, contrary to what some latecomers thought that this means authenticating the chain only and not the text. Instead such a saying [that this means authenticating the chain only and not the text] can only come from one who claims that the ahadith of Rasool ‘alaihisalam donot result in [the listener having attained] knowledge [but just unsure thoughts that these may have been his words]. Instead they (the scholars of hadith) say ‘It has been authentically reported from him’ to mean that the saying is his, sallallaho’alaihiwasallam and that he said that. And this why they insist that ‘He said’, or ‘He ordered’ or He forbade’ or ‘He did’ etc. But, when they have uncertainity that the Prophet sallallaho’alaihiwasallam said that, they would just say [using passive instead of active voice] ‘It is reported from him or he is reported to have said’ etc.Whoever has experience in this science, then he differentiates between ???? ???? (‘Authentic hadith’) and ???? ??????? (‘authentic chain’). The first is a doubtless affirmation to the authenticity of these words having been said by the Prophet sallallaho’alaihiwasallam and the second is only an affirmation that the chain itself is correct and authentic, while it is possible that the text may have defects like oddness (shuzooz: i.e. trustworthy narrators reporting differently from those who are even more trustworthy or against what is narrated by those who are greater in number than him and are as trustworthy as himself) or other defects [‘illah: for example the memory of the trustworthy narrator became weak later and it is not possible to say whether he heard the hadith and narrated after or before memory loss etc.:](This Translation is taken from IA forum)

Objection no: 2.(According to Asharis the hadeeth Should be Mutwatir for creed so even if it is proven saheeh its not Hujjah for them because it is not Mutwatir.)

Its a well know fact that those who use this athar as an evidence they don’t make creed on khabar al wahid.

GF HAaddad a Soofi says regarding establishing aqeedah and accused Shaykh Al Bani Rah

It is impermissible to say that the `aqida of Muslims today is different from that of the Sahaba but Ahl al-Sunna only admit mutawatir-rank evidence as a basis in defining Islamic `aqida. Only a handful of innovators such as Albani differed.

source: (see question no: 7)

http://www.livingislam.org/n/qau_e.html

what is actually Mutwatir hadeeth??

Ibn e Hjar mentioned regarding Mutwatir

As such, a Hadith is classified as Mutawatir only when it fulfils the following conditions:

1) It is reported by such a large number of narrators that under normal circumstances it would be impossible for them to conspire a lie.

2) Such a number exists throughout the chain of narration, i.e. from the beginning to the end.
3) The reporters must base their report on sense perception, i.e. on something that is heard or seen.

4) That the narration necessitates certain knowledge for the listener. (Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani, Sharh Nukhba al-Fikr, P.21).

Objection no: 3 We can not Base our Creed from Dreams because Islam is Complete.

Allah says in Chapter 5 verse 3

…This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion…

The religious innovations based on dreams are countless. Since the sharia (Islamic law) is complete, the claim that the Prophet (pbuh) has come in dreams with new additions must be false. Such a claim implies one of two things:

1. Either the Prophet (pbuh)did not fulfil his mission in his lifetime[he forgot to tell to the Sahabas and he is telling that to you now?], or

2. Allah was not aware of the future of the ummah, thus did not prescribe the necessary injunctions during the Prophets (pbuh) lifetime.

and No where Prophet peace be upon him told us that i will come to dream and you can base your aqeedah from that.

and Lastly Scholars say Regarding Dreams that They are not Evidences in Shari`ah.

Objection no: 4.Malik Ad Dar is disputed Over (some says Known and Some says Unknown).

He is disputed over according to Ibne Hibban and Ibn e Saad etc he is known

and according to Imaam Nuruddin Al Haythami and Mundari he is unknown

Ibne Hibban said regarding him

???? ?? ???? ????? ???? ?? ??? ?? ?????? ??? ??? ??? ???? ?????? ???? ???? ???? ?? ??????

Imam Ibn Hibban Said: Malik bin Iyad ad-Dar He has taken traditions from Umar Faroq, and Abu Saleh al-Samman, andHe was a slave freed by Umar bin al-Khattab.

Ibn e Saad said

Malik ad-Dar was a slave freed by Umar bin al-Khattab.He reported traditions from Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and Umar, and Abu Salih Samman reported traditions from him. He waswell known[Tabqaat al Kubra Vol 5 Page 12]

but on the Other hand

Noor ud din Haythami said in Majma Az Zawaid regarding his narration

???? ???????? ?? ?????? . ????? ????? ?? ????? ????? ????? ????

Narrated by At Tabranee in Kabeer and Malik ad Dar is not Known, and other narrators are Trustworthy

Hafidh Mundhari also records the same in his Thargeeb wat Tharheeb

????? ????? ?? ?????

Malik Ad Dar is not Known [Targheeb At Tarheeb 2/29]

Imam Bukhari mentioned him in Tareekh al Kabeer Vol 7 Page 304 and mentioned no Jirha no Tadeel

Imam Ibne Abi Hatim mentioned him in Al Jirha Wa Tadeel and mentioned no Jirha no Tadeel on him
.
Note: Shaykh Irshad ul Haq Athree said If
Ibn Abee Haatim remaining silent about a narrator in his book al-Jarh WaTadeel this is evidence that the narrator is unknown according to him, see his book Taudheeh al-Kalaam (2/441-442)

Objection no: 5 Inqita (discontinuity in the chain) between Abu Salih Al Samaan and Malik Ad Darr.

There is Inqita between Abu Salih Samaan and Malik Darr. Its for this reason why Ibn Hajr in Fathul baari gives the verdict as follows :
.

???? ?? ??? ???? ?????? ???? ?? ????? ??? ???? ?????? ?? ???? ??????]

Ibn Abu Shaybah narrated it with aAuthentic chainthe narration from Abi Salih as Samaan from Malik al Dar(end)

This means that the chain is sahih only Up to Abu salih otherwise he would just simply said: It’s Isnaad is Sahih! 2ndly Hafidh Khalili in kitaabul Irshad says , after saying he was tabiyee and quoted the same narration after that he said

???? ?? ??? ???? ??? ???? ????? ??? ?????? ???????? ??????

(Rough)

Abu Salih did not hear it directly from Malik Darr and others gave it the way as Mursal

Al-Irshad fi Ma’rifa Ulama al-Hadith of Hafiz al-Khalili (1/314)

Therefore those who wish to take al-Khalili’s verdict on Malik should also take his verdict on the hadeeth, for he himself is alluding to its weakness.

Objection no: 6 Amash is Mudallis and narrating from (AN).

Amash is Mudallis Hafiz Ibne Hajar mentioned him in Tabqa Thaniyah in [Tabqaat al Mudalliseen (2/55)] but he also mentioned him in 3rd Martaba of Mudalliseen in [Al Nikat al Ibn al Salah (2/640)]
In this chain Amash is Narrating from (An) and Mudallis is not Evidence in his tadlees, But These people argue back by quoting saying of Dahabee RA, Hafiz dahabee said

??? ???? ????? ??? ?? ???? ??? ???? ?? ? ???? ???: ?????? ???? ??? ???? ? ???? ???: ?? ???? ???? ?????? ??????? ? ??? ?? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????? ? ???? ???? ? ???? ?????????? ? ??? ?????? ?? ??? ????? ?????? ??? ???????

Meezan Ul Aitedaaal 3/316

It says that

When Amash begins a tradition with the word an (from) there is a possibility of imposture and deception. But if he relates it from his elders like Ibr?h?m, Ab? W?il,Ab? S?lih Samm?n, etc., then it is presumed to possess sound linkage (ittis?l)(end)

Reply give by Muhaddith Shaykh Zubair Ali Zai by saying

.

Meaning of saying of Dahabee can be two
.
1.Normally the narrations from These sauyukh of Amash presumed to posses sound linkage because in these narrations most of them we find tasreeh of sama
2. All the narrations from these shuyukh are ittesaal
if we take 2nd meaning then it is wrong because of different reasons,

.

Al hadith no: 66 page 9

Download Al hadith no: 66 from here: http://ircpk.com/mujallat_1.html

Then Shaykh provided different sayings of scholars where Amash is narrating hadith (An) abu saleh (meaning he is doing tadlees) and Muhadditheen said its weak due to tadlees of Amash.

Now I would like to quote Some Muhaditheen who said that if Amash narrate from (An) then he is not Evidence

1. Hafidh An Nawawi

Nawawi said regaring the hadith of Amash where he was narrating from (An)

?????????????????????????? ?????????? ??????????????????? ????????

Hafiz Nawawi said regarding Amash (An) Abi Saleh

Commentary of sahih Muslim vol 1 under the hadeeth 109

Nawawi again said regarding hadith of Amash (AN) abi saleh

???? ?????????? ???? ????? ?????? , ????????????????????? ??????????????????? ????? : ( ???? ) ??? ????????? ????

Summary of saying is that

Amash was mudallis and if mudallis narrate from (AN) then He is not Evidence and (MunAN) narrations of Mudalliseen in Sahihyeen(Bukhari and Muslim) are presumed to possess sound linkage.

2. Hafiz ibn e jozi said regarding the hadeeth of Amash from Abi saleh

???? ???? ?? ???

This hadith is not authentic.

and then he quoted Imam Ahmad by saying

There is no Asal of this hadeeth and Imam Ahmad said that Amash didn’t heard this from Abu Saleh

Al alal al mutnahiyah vol 1 page 437 hadith 736

3.Hafiz ibn al qattan said regarding the hadith where Amash is narrating from Abu saleh

Al Hakim says: “Al A’mash did not hear this hadith from Abu Salih”, and offers an alternate isnad by way of al A’mash and Suhayl b. Abi Salih

6.Al Bayhaqi points out the defect in the Hadith of Amash from Abi Salehsaying that

And Amash surely didn’t heard this hadeeth from Abu Saleh.
Sunan Al Kubra 1/430

7 Abu al Fadhal Muhammad bin Abi Hussain Al Harwi (317 h) mentioned same defect regarding hadith of Amash from Abi Saleh in (Ilal Al Ahadeeth fe Kitab Al Saheeh Muslim page 138 hadeeth 35)

8. Ibne Hibban said

and so many other References can be provided, and one more thing to be noted that Abbas Ridvi Brelvi who is famous debater of Brelvism in Pakistan he said

10. Abbas Ridvi Brelvi Did Jirha on Amash (An) Abi saleh hadeeth and Said

11. In a narration of Mustadrak Al Hakim from the Route Amash (AN) Abi Wail

Aisha RA did Takzeeb of Amar bin Al Aas ra (Vol 4 Page 13)

This is not acceptable because Amash is doing tadlees.

And in Tareekh Yaqoob bin Sufiyan Al Farsi vol 2 page 771

Huzaifa RA pointed out Abu Moosa Al Ashari to be a Munafiq

but this hadeeth is weak due to Tadlees of Amash. what will these people say regarding these ahadith?

12. and Lastly

Abu Dawud in his Sunan records the hadith in the way al Bayhaqi mentions, namely with the chain: al A’mash from a man from Abu Salih, with an unnamed intermediary between al A’mash and Abu Salih?

?????? ? ?????? ?? ??? ? ?????? ? ???? ???? ? ??? ? ??????? ? ???? ? ????? ? ??? ? ???? ???? ? ???? ? ???? ? ?????? ??? ?? ? ?????? ? ???? ? ??? ? ???? ????? ? ???? ? ???? ???? ???? ? ???? ???? ???? ???? ? ????? ?

Amashsaid

(From Abu saleh and i think i have heard this from Abu Saleh)

Abu Dawood 414.

note: he himslef is in doubt whether he heard this hadith from Abu Saleh or not

So surely we can Conclude Amash was Mudallis and if he narrate from (AN) then he is not evidence.
